So I've had a torn labrum for about 5 years and have just dealt with the pain. The past 8 or so months the pain has gotten a lot worse. I'm about to bite the bullet and have surgery. How long before I'm back to throwing a ball like normal? Doc told me 4-6 months recovery. But is that 4-6 months to being able to play sports or to being able to use my shoulder w/o pain and light workouts.

If you do relentless rehab you can throw in 5 Months. Unless you have to I don't recommend trying to throw hard for a lo g time. Your range of motion won't be the same. Strength will come back completely but throwing is a different animal.

I had a torn labrum, bicep tendon, and a partial tear of the rotator cuff and 4 months after surgery is when I could really start to push it. The hardest part was keeping my arm immobilized in that sling for 8 weeks after surgery. It’s been 7 years and the only problem I’ve dealt with is bone spurs that developed under my collarbone, nothing real serious.

It takes a year. Push it early and you could end up in the same boat.

Had labrum surgery 13 years ago. Shoulder strength after a couple years was better than ever. However range of motion different and slight slumping forward of the shoulder in resting position. I still won't try to throw a ball at maximum power. No. Need to. I can pitch several buckets of baseballs to my 5 year old and feel fine but I'm not heating it up. I can toss a football around but never try to throw over 15 yards or so.

I had surgery in July , and I haven’t attempted to throw a ball yet . I had 5 anchors placed in my arm and slowly trying to get my strength back , I don’t want to push it because I’m not a young buck anymore lol

My labrum is fricked. I had prolotherapy on both shoulders a little over a month ago. Left shoulder feels good, right one still sucks. Left one had a lot of laxity, but the ultrasound showed decent structure. He saw so many little tears in my right one, though, that he called it, and I quote “trash.” I think it is just too far gone for prolo or PRP.

Any surgeons in LA that y’all have good luck, with? I know Fields in Baton Rouge and Savoie in New Orleans are highly recommended. Or were. One of the things I am best at is throwing a baseball and football. Haven’t been able to in a few years. Really disappointing I can’t throw with my son. Sucks for both of us.

Dr. Mark Hontas in Covington repaired my acl/lcl and my shoulder, no complaints from me but he’s the only orthopedic surgeon I’ve ever dealt with.

I'm going to Dr. Bostick. He sees a lot of my clients.

Year and a half removed and I still can't throw like I used to. Seems to be very stiff. I have not gotten my full range of motion back yet. Oh...I workout every day!

The new WM motto. You should feel my right shoulder. It sounds like someone is chewing rocks.

It really depends on the severity of tear.
Are we talking SLAP, Bankart, Reverse bankart.

If a slap are we talking grade 1,2,3,4?
