Saucony makes a water resistant Endorphin Speed. If you’re looking for grip, I’ve heard anything from Puma is best outside of a dedicated trail shoe.

My goal was to not spend a ton on the part time shoe. I haven't tried Puma before. I hit the Nike outlet now and then just to see what is super cheap, and they had Winflo 7 Shield. Never done the Winflo, I know it is the cheaper version of Pegasus, but it's water resistant with an outsole made for wet traction or so it says. I'm going to try that out for 60 bucks. It's super light, the sole feels fine, I can definitely feel the cushion in the forefoot which is something I found hit or miss with pegasus in the past. Anyway, I'll report back if anyone cares on how they do in the rain. The Speed are just sketchy in the rain sprinting downhill in spots where I can't safely slow down. They do dry super quick.

Seems like a manufacturer driven sale, same sale on saucony.com, fleetfeet.com, runningwarehouse.com. The wife and I just stocked up. Nothing like having the next pair ready and knowing you'll like them. I guess I haven't run in the Speed 2's, but they look pretty much the same. I don't get why they varied the size of the reflector thing on the back from color to color, I need that since I run in the dark. Maybe it was just how it looks.

How do you decide when to switch to a new pair? I'm in month 9 with my current Speeds, and they still feel fine. I have the next pair ready to go. In the past with crappier shoes it was evident. Even with my last pair of Speeds my heel started hurting in month 8, I switched. I'm wondering if it's better to switch before problems or just roll with what still works. I run 3.5 miles 3x/week, so not serious distance. Soles are fine.

Rough estimate, you’re between 390 and 440 miles on your current pair. If they don’t hurt, keep rolling. How long shoes last is highly dependent on the runner. I find I’m tough on shoes and tend to retire them at 300 or so…plus I just really like getting new shoes .

Like Jordan said shoe life varies from one runner to the next. not sure why but assume it depends on form and maybe shoe wears faster when used for longer periods of time in a particular workout. For replacement if you can't tell by visual wear you will typical notice by some type of ache all of a sudden. I usually get knee issue when my shoes are starting to die. I've also put enough miles in numerous pairs of Endo Speeds that i can tell by sound. for me speeds start going "flat" by 300 and by 330 i'll get knee ache so they get retired.

This makes sense - my first pair didn't last as long, they had an audible squish that I'm sure led to heel pain. Current ones aren't there yet.

I'm sure weight, form, miles, and weather all play a factor, along with variations in construction.

With so many super shoes available, many of which are on sale, I’ve been on a buying spree lately.

I absolutely love the adios pro 2 and 3. I think lightsrike pro is my favorite foam.

I’m kicking myself for not grabbing Vaporfly’s when they were as low as $160.

Just picked up a pair on Endorphin Speed 2s for $80 (includes shipping) code DPO53 on there website. Have bought these and the Novablast 3s in the last 3 days. Wife is going to be so excited (gives her an excuse to go shopping without me being able to say much!)

Pretty sure they’re regularly this price and cheaper… do you mean alphaflys?

I got a pair of alphafly 2 from dicks for $165 a month ago. V1 has been on sale for $160-200 for a while, but dicks strangely had v2 on sale for a couple days.

I also bought saucony endorphin pro 3 and new balance super comp trainer. I’m passing on the endorphin speed 3, however.

Thanks KS - if I decide to pull the trigger I may go on eBay.

I haven’t seen Vaporfly’s regularly priced for $160 anywhere. Retail is $250, can find some ugly colors for maybe $200 right now.

Nike.com regularly has a 20% off coupon that’s valid on running shoes and stacks on top of already discounted prices.

Also, Eastbay has 30-40% off coupons that worked on alphafly and vaporfly and both could be had under $150. I just checked and men’s sizes are OOS, but women’s are in stock so they could have your size unless your feet are on the bigger side. I just put a pair of vaporflys in my cart for $125.99.

I almost pulled the trigger on some women’s but nervous about the width. People say they are unisex but the women’s are more narrow than the men’s. Think B vs D width.

I have a suspicion that both the vaporfly and alphafly only come in one width- D.

Has anyone tried the ASICS Metaspeed sky+ ?

I haven’t seen it on sale, so I’m very hesitant to pay full retail ($250).
