you guys find the kickr to be that much better than going to the local gym and cycling/spin class?
Absolutely. Spin classes may help keep you from getting fat but they really arent going to do anything beneficial for cycling specific fitness.

Never done spin classes but Zwift and a smart trainer with climber are pretty appealing to me.
The ability to do their structured workouts and training plans helps alot if you’re trying to raise your ftp, get better doing long climbs, etc.. i’m not too big on just riding around in the various worlds but there are some good ones like the one with Alpe Du Zwift

This would be my goal. I love climbing, but I'm severly limited around Baton Rouge.

Kickr and a zwift subscription is the ticket

If anyone is interested, I will be selling a brand new, warranty replacement TACX Flux S in a few weeks.
Posted on 7/13/21 at 3:46 pm to TheWiz
Do you happen to know if the TacX is compatible with the new Canyon Ultimate? I know Wahoos aren't without a special adapter. Something to do with clearance.
ETA: it looks like it's strictly a Wahoo problem. Let me know more about the Flux when you're ready to sell.

I'm itching to get rid of my semi-smart Kinetic Fluid InRide and go to a direct drive setup. I wanna feel those hills!

I do not but looks like you found out. I will ship my Tacx off of Friday to warranty it. As soon as I do, they are going to send me a new unit.
I am switching over to a Kickr for the sole reason that it supports multiple bluetooth channels. I have transitioned to completely indoor riding and multi-BTE allows me to run TrainerRoad with Zwift. Otherwise, the Tacx has been fantastic.

Sounds good. I'd love first dibs on it once you get the new unit in. Just let me know.

Been using my Galaxy S9 phone to stream Zwift to a Chromecast.
Upgraded to a Galaxy S21 and holy hell is it so much more smooth/enjoyable.

How do you fellas carry your tire repair kits on your bike? I currently use a rear mounted saddle bag but I don't really like the look of it and I just got a Garmin Varia, so it kind of gets in the way. Specialized has the road kit that mounts on your frame behing the chain ring, but it's $170. Seems kind of steep.

If you have another method of carrying hydration, you can get a storage canister that fits in one of your bottle cages, or just use an empty bottle. That’s the most seemless way I’ve found to bring a spare tube, patch kit, tire levers, and multi tool, but I don’t ride hard or far so I can give up the extra bottle.

I had a small bag that I could keep a tube, co2, tire levers, patches, and a valve extender (deeper wheels). It was a process to pack it up to a small footprint, but only had to do it once unless I used it. Would just keep it in my jersey pocket.

Yeah, definitely can't give up the extra water bottle this time of the year.
I may try to pack it up real tight like mentioned above and fit it into my jersey pocket.

Just get a smaller seatpack unless you dont want one at all. i've got a speedsleev ranger s on the road bike and it's pretty small. i can fit a tube, 2 16g c02 cartridges, an inflator, tire leavers, and a small multi tool. that stuff is absolutely crammed in there though. i have plenty of room for a varia under.. i'll see if i have a picture

Yeah, post a pic if you can. I have this one, but if the Ranger is much smaller I’d go with it for sure.
