I'll be in and out of town over the next couple weeks and tied up with work and holiday stuff, so very little riding for me. I may try to get some trainer time in tonight, though.

Group ride today. Haven’t been riding much the past week, and work, lack of sleep, and bad nutrition has sapped me. Grabbed on to a breakaway with 2 stronger riders 30 miles in and gave out with cramps after 5 miles.

Ready to get in to December and more riding time.

Worlds yesterday for me. Felt better than 2 weeks ago. Got popped on the same hill (2 min climb) it takes 6 w/kg in the wheels to hold on at 5800’ after a np of 265 for 30 mins. Moto man pulled me back up the group. Later two of the three strongest guys broke away and stayed away.

I was off for a few days before Christmas due to work. I climbed back on this past week by signing up for the Festive 500. I’m thinking this was a mistake.

3 days in and over 100 road miles so far. Set a lot of PR’s yesterday on a ride. Hit 5,000 miles on the year today (compared to 780 last year). Big day tomorrow and maybe Sunday. Right hamstring is begging for mercy.

Completed the Festive 500k today with a 50 miler with 3,000’ of climb (not a lot for some, but a lot for around here). Great weather for it.

Happy New Year to all!

I only rode one 10 mile mountain bike ride in November. The intention was to take November off then in December the mountain bike season starts and I would start training. Dec 1st I was carrying a concrete paver on my shoulder I slipped on some wet steps and the paver corner smashed the last segment of my thumb. Corner hit right at the base of the nail and partially degloved the tip and shattered the bone into splinters. 6 weeks for the bone to set.

Thumb looks like something out of a zombie movie. Can't really grab and hold on to the handlebars right now. I pedaled around on the single speed last Sunday 3 weeks since the accident going on 7 weeks since any really riding. It was just a short paved 5 miles doing repeats up a gradual 1/3 mile hill but man is my cardio already shot. Thumb is feeling well enough I might try some road on the gravel bike. Double tap should be doable with no right thumbs. Since November my resting heart rate has gone from low. 52-53 average to 64 last week.

Holy crap. I'm picturing Billy Bob's finger injury from the second episode of Landman.

I guess you can at least get on the trainer?

The boy bought a used Turbo Levo with a newly rebuilt motor for $3500 (yes he paid for it). All new components, as the guy had bought the new gen of Levo and swapped all the new parts off it onto his older Levo and took his "custom" parts onto his new bike. Took it for a quick ride yesterday. Did my usual from home 7 mile ride in 44 minutes vs. the 70 minutes of my last ride on an analog.

I don't know... I get the whole e-bike thing, and I think it's great for my son (though I worry about how long it will take him to thrash it). I still think I prefer analog over e-bike, but I only have one real ride (and it's a pretty technical, raw ride) on it. I may feel different when I'm lapping flow trails in Bentonville and soft pedaling the boring return trails with motor assist.

One thing that I DID like about it, as far as a training tool, is that I was flying on a lot of the flatter sections, so I could see it definitely improving my overall speed through twisty singletrack and flat corners when racing enduro.

not a fan of ebikes. the downhill is reward for pedaling your arse up the mountain.

For people who race downhill, they’re a pretty fantastic training tool. He got two laps on our local “downhill” track today in 20 minutes. His last time he did two laps on his analog downhill bike, it took him an hour (have to push the DH bike up most of the return trail). So he can basically triple the amount of training he does in same time. Due to weight of ebike, it also feels more similar to riding a heavy DH bike. But I agree that they aren’t really my preference.

Good specs, but that's a little above my price range for a spare set of wheels, especially adding in a freehub for $100! Thank you, though.

Why not this year??? 2/28

I don’t think I’m fit enough to go the 100 miles and be any bit competitive, but maybe I can compete in the 50.
