I'd be down. We can set it up in "no-drop" mode too, so it keeps the group intact.

I cycle a good bit on the MS Coast. I have a 2017 Trek Domane Al II.

Always wear a helmet.
Always have a flashing taillight.
Always assume drivers don’t see you.

And assume the ones that see you, don't like you, haha. You will have people be aggressive. One of the reasons I fell out of riding.

I would say a power meter is not necessary but I would recommend a heart rate strap so you can gauge your effort.

Got one. I use HR workouts at times when running. Will def integrate with the Garmin. It will be nice to have it on screen and not have to look down at my watch while riding to see it.

Got my speed/cadence sensors installed today. 830 should be here tomorrow.

Saw this pop up on Amazon. Intriguing. I’ll be getting one real soon.

Y’all are gonna make me get a smart trainer! I use Zwift when on the gym treadmill, but it isn’t really built for runners. Awesome for cyclists.

I use Zwift as a last resort when the weather is bad in the winter but its pretty boring and so I can't get more than an hour ride on it. I ride outside if at all possible.

I guess we need to pick a particular day/time for a group ride since you cant just create a group...

If anyone has a schedule they are following, Im wide open.

What do y’all think about an early morning ride on M, W, or F (or any combination of those)?

Not sure what time you guys usually ride but I’m typically on there at 5:30 or 6 am a few times per week. Also open to any other suggestions

An early morning and a late afternoon option on different days would be cool if possible.

I usually hop on around 6:30-7:00pm CST.

kickr and zwift will definitely get you stronger. cant just get on it and ride around watopia though. if you want to get stronger you need to do structured workouts. even if it's less than an hour... intervals and sweet spot are your friend. do a 20 min ftp test on zwift and get after it.

Would yall be good with an alternating 530am and 630pm? We can test run a week or 2 or adjust on the fly as needed.

It looks like the only way to create a meetup is to invite people you are "following" on Zwift.

If everyone can please email their name to me at polarpoptd at gmail.com by Sunday night, Ill get the requests sent out. My initials are M S

1 hour rides (19ish miles)

Getting into triathlons. First sprint is in 2 weeks. Using my dad's bike that is sufficient to get me 13 miles and see if I hate it, but will need something better if I start taking it seriously.

I'd like to buy used for my first bike. Any suggestions for buying second hand? In Houston, so FB marketplace, craigslist should have plenty of options. Do I need to go be officially fitted, or is there a height->cm ratio. Quite tall, so I assume I'll need something pretty big.

There is a Facebook group called online swap meet for cycling and triathlon. Join that and create a post stating what you are looking for.
