I was talking to a friend of mine about you yesterday. He’s a big ol boy and isn’t ready to take the first step yet. Your story got him at least interested in looking into keto/low carb. Keep it up!

I’m down to 233. I can almost see 225, but I can already tell that 215/210 will be my next goal. I keep it low carb/keto food wise but will eat something off diet or drink beers on the weekend. The weight loss is slower but it’s still working. I’m exercising hard too.

Update. I almost gave up after only losing 3lbs over the course of the first three weeks, but now I am down 11lbs at 5 weeks. I didn’t change anything, so I am not sure why it took my body so long to adjust. I feel great now and cravings are pretty much non existent.

215 this morning, 35" around waist at belly button. Mid January when started was 244 and 44".

I was worried the very low carb intake would impact workouts, but I'm swimming, biking, and running faster than before, and the little weight lifting I do I'm stronger at.

The plan seems to be working for me.

Started a Keto type diet the other day
Goal is less than 30 carbs a day
So far I've achieved that everyday

My calorie goal is to stay under 2200
My protein goal is 160g a day
My fat goal is 140g a day

This was automatically set by the app I used once I put in my height/weight.

As I said so far so good in staying under my carb goal and exceeding my protein goal. However, I'm not reaching my fat/calorie goal. In fact I'm staying around 1500 calories a day and I feel full. I'm also falling short of the fat goal hovering between 60-80g everyday.

I've picked up jogging this week and do body weight exercises right now. To help achieve my goal of losing weight and getting leaner.

So my question lies is the fact I'm not fitting my goals for calorie/fat intake going to hurt long term?

Fat is primarily to make you feel full. You do not have to eat all the fat in your macro's

It's important to eat the good fats though. I believe below came from Dr Jason Fung

"If weight loss is your goal, fat is to satiate. Unless you’re hungry you do not have to add fat to your meals. You can because it’s delicious, but you do not ever need to hit your fat macro if you are trying to lose weight."

I think your baseline metabolism will probably suffer slightly from only eating 1500 cals. 1800-1850 if your threshold is 2200 sounds like the minimum to me. That just comes from my experience.

As far as fat macros, just pay attention to your body. If you aren't seeing the results with a deficit, it should be easy to start hitting your macros and comparing results.

I started keto about a month or so ago, and really started seeing benefits after I began to reach my fat targets daily.

OWSA - Have you used any of these foods / supplement recommendations from Dr. D'Agostino?

Pretty cool website.

Quick update on my journey. Started in January and finally intentionally cheated Memorial Day week while in Vegas. Gained 2 lbs which wasn’t too bad. Thank God for all the walking in Vegas.

Today I’m down 51.5 lbs. 8 lbs from my “goal” but I may just ride this to see how far I can go. Have a good day everyone!

Anyone had any issues with kidney stones on Keto? Never had one in my life and have passed two in last 3 weeks since being on Keto since January. Had an ultrasound done yesterday at urologists and I have one more in each kidney.

That sounds worrisome. Have you stuck to the diet verbatim?
