Switching to Non Alcoholic BeersPosted by DixonCider
on 1/11/21 at 12:55 pm

Anyone on here switch to primarily or entirely non alcoholic beers/seltzers?
My issue isn't with drinking. My issue is I'm a fat kid at heart, and if I like how something tastes, I want to keep consuming it.
Over the weekend I decided I hated the fact that I can have a few beers, not catch a buzz, and still sleep like shite and wake up feeling like shite. Problem is, I like beer. I see facebook ads all the time for various NA options, and was hoping someone might have some input on if they're worth it.

They make some decent ones, but they still have calories in them. If you want to totally knock out calories Topo Chico sparkling water with good Mio flavor added in is a good option.

Yea the carbs and calories are still there
The alcohol isn’t making you fat per say
It does have an impact on recovery and your metabolism at times if you go overboard

I might have to try the topo chico and mio.
Calories I actually have no issue with, just because at this point I'm used to setting aside the beer calories.
My big problem is that I hate waking up cotton mouthed after not sleeping through the night because I had a beer after 10pm. I thoroughly enjoy the flavor of beer and will set calories aside for it. I just hate the fact that it fricks my recovery speed up sideways

So, are you looking for a hip flavored zero calorie beer or seltzer? Lagunitas makes a zero-calorie zero-alcohol beverage called Hoppy Refresher.

I only drink NA beers. If you're switching b/c of calories, NA beer isn't going to save you an calories. If you just don't want the alcohol, then NA is the way to go. There are some really good ones out there and lots of craft NA breweries these days. If you tell what style of beer you like, I could make some recommendations. If you have Total Wine nearby, they have tons of NA options.

I'll have to check total wine or for sure then.
I've always enjoyed stouts and recently have been on a kick off the hazy IPAs because of the citrus flavor

You can definitely find stouts and IPAs in the NA variety that are pretty good. I've had good ones from Gruvi and Bravus. Athletic Brewing has a good line of NA beers. If you have Total Wine, go check there. They should have a pretty selections of stuff that you can try. My main point being, you certainly aren't just limited to O'Douls these days when it comes to the NA niche.

Are you me?
Even one good IPA after like 6pm fricks an entire night of sleep. Not even worth it most of the time.

Athletic Brewing all day. Wouldn’t mess with anything else.

I'm in the same boat. Takes a lot of beer to catch a buzz. Also my food intake spikes once I get a solid buzz.
