That would make my advice harder to swing then. If you find yourself in BR/Nola/Laffy look for a run specialty store (fleet feet, Geaux run, Louisiana running company) where you can get fitted. That’s your best bet of finding a pair you’ll like.

I appreciate the advice. I got fitted before I started running and again before I ran my first marathon. Brooks Launch was the recommended shoe and I ran a few half marathons in them. I just thought it was the ghost model until I found an old pair in my garage.

I never wear shoes unless I have to. And I don’t like all the extra cushion.

Just ordered a pair of Hokas. Gonna see what all this fuss is about. I usually run in ASICS Kayanos. I haven’t done any long distances or races lately. Just for everyday run/walk on pavement. Hope I like.
I go through running shoes pretty quickly. Gonna see how long these hold up.

I've been interested in finding a shoe that is comfortable but doesnt have big thick sole. I think this leads to heel striking for me which ends up causing injuries. Any recommendations or advice for finding a more minimalist shoe?

A zero drop shoe will help. You don't necessarily have to go minimal on the sole.

Everyone is different, you can’t say this definitively. A zero drop shoe could also lead to injury.

Heel striking isn’t the bogeyman people make it out to be, most hobby runners heel strike. If heel striking in higher stack shoes without injury, then work on correcting form before jumping into 0 drop and injuring your Achilles.

Less drop will lessen heal striking for anyone. It's pretty simple physics. If you want to argue that it's not addressing the root cause, that's another talk.

Which can lead to injury. If he/she is running in 10m-12m drop shoes without injury, why switch?

My bad, missed where they said they think it is causing injuries. 0 drop might be a quick fix, but not the solution. Fix the form first.

Seems everyone likes Hoka now

Hoka was last year.

TYR is the newest thing.

In all seriousness, I had a pair of Hokas that I wore out. It wasn't after I switched to TYR RD-1 that I realized how heavy the Hokas were. I really like the TYR but I found that I needed to wear longer socks (full ankle socks instead of the low profile) until I got them broken in. They tore up the back of my ankle the first time.

I’m a saucony disciple. Ever since I slapped on a pair of endorphin speeds I haven’t changed running shoes .If you can find the originals anywhere they were far superior to the others. I found some on eBay last month and pulled the trigger.

Agree endo speed 1 & 2 way better than 3.
the 3 just feels dead compared to the other 2.not worth the $ and I only paid $105 for them. if you can find adidas adios pro 3 for $150 or less that shoe gets my vote.

Adidas pro 3 is the best shoe I've ever worn, aside from the alphafly.

The alphafly is very polarizing and is truly a race (or fast) day shoe whereas I can easily use the AP3 across all distances and paces. It's become my daily trainer.

I reallly wish adidas pushed their running line more. I ran in adidas in college and ran 2 half’s and a full in the adios pro 2’s this year. Such a good shoe.
