Like Pedro said, I'd just run in what feels good to you as long as it's a proper running shoe. Hellen Obiri just won Boston in some (unreleased) ON shoes.

saucony endorphin line is excellent.
on cloud has improved, but that's not saying much. never has a company name been more the exact opposite of their actual product.

Take ibuprofen before the race, ice bath after. You'll prob hit a wall at mile 23 or so. Just tough it out. Good Luck.

I think they’re turning the corner. The new Cloudsurfer is getting good reviews and I can personally attest to the Cloudmonster. 70 miles in and enjoying them, though I wouldn't run a marathon in them. Problem is still the price, can find some great shoes on sale for $100-$125 while Ons are rarely on sale.

True elites run in the shoe that pays them. that ain't us so run in whatever shoe feels good on your foot. if the shoe you have doesn't give you problems on your long run then stick with it.

Keep your head on a swivel, maybe run with a bulletproof vest?

Agree, on your rushed training schedule I don’t think fine tuning your shoes will matter much. I’ll be following this thread

I ran a half marathon in 1 hour 32 minutes in Mobile many years ago. I trained for about 2 months before and had shitty shoes. I developed a pretty bad blister on my left foot and trained through it. It really flared up during the half and I didn't know it at the time but was partially taking weight off of it. It was a couple days after but I could barely put weight on my right foot. Went to an Ortho soon after and had a stress fracture on the large bone top of my right foot because of the change in how I was running. Don't be like me and get good shoes, and don't train too hard too fast. Listen to your body

As a guy who has only ran a half marathon just do that. It is plenty of a challenge and given where you are now will be doable. If you enjoy that then move on to the marathon. Making the jump from a 10k to a marathon will put you down for a long time.

I'd say wait until you can commit 5 months of training. You will have a better time. In the meantime, try a half or get faster at the 5 or 10k.

I'm not a runner, and even I know this is a dumb idea.

Only thing I would say is quit smoking and remember deep wheezing.
Kidding aside good luck.

Guessing the dude died.
The marathon in Jackson got cancelled and I’m running one in DFW next weekend. The extra 6 weeks of training has been huge, I did my longest run of 20 miles about 2 weeks ago and did that in 2 hours and 45 minutes. I’m running in Saucony Endorphins and they are much faster than the ON’s. I’m very excited for the race and will keep you guys updated!

God was looking out for you my friend 20 was my longest for the one I just ran. Just make sure your nailing your nutrition and don’t run hard early and you’ll be fine

There is a Marathon in DFW next weekend? How is that even allowed? Sounds like a recipe for certain death.

Yes that’s the one, 10pm start time to avoid the heat. I ran a 5k tonight in 30 minutes, legs are feeling great. Curious to know, is anyone else here running in this event?
