Oh so it's a night time trail race. Makes a little more sense now. Pretty unconventional first Marathon for sure. I would go crazy waiting around until 10 pm to start the race, haha.

Got a goal pace/time in mind? If you were able to knock out 20 miles in 2:45 in this heat, that’s solid.

I went out for a long run a couple days ago thinking I could hit 14 miles when it was 88 degrees and 85% humidity. I was wrong.

The entire route was a 3.25 mile straight away sidewalk and we went out and back 8 times. I ran the entire time and had to will myself through the final 9 miles - my mindset was “just make it to the next aid station.” I severely underestimated how difficult this would be and finished in 4 hours

4 hours on that in July is impressive.

I would like to try one during the day with a more scenic route, I think that might be a better experience. Unless you’ve done one, I don’t think anyone can actually understand how difficult it is to run 26 straight miles - not stopping and walking here and there - running the entire time

I’m in Fort Lauderdale and the Dew Point has been 75+ every morning. Did five miles in DC a few weeks ago and it was perfect out. Felt like a million bucks.

Two days later, went for a long run back in Fort Lauderdale, lasted two miles and said F it. It’s miserable, like running through mud in a steam room.

Props to OP for finishing 26 miles! I’m training for my first half in October, going to be rough.

check out grandmas marathon in Duluth. Ran it this year. Gorgeous route and point to point. Lots of spectators around too to keep it from getting boring.
