Just curious if a decently built rowing machine that mimics actual rowing exists? I see some cheap looking ones out there.

I guess the Concept 2's of the world are popular for a reason (design wise) and the ones that actually row just aren't necessarily good.

But I'm still interested in looking at them if you guys know of any out there.

The dynamic rower by Concept2 is supposed to be closer to the real thing than the standard Concept2 rower

Yeah I wouldn't use anything but Concept 2. I've never used the Dynamic but I can see how it would "feel" a little more like actual rowing. With that said, we used the Model D in college for our erg days. Not sure if it's worth the price jump but if it's what you're looking for, go for it.

Check out the Ergatta. Love mine. Water based. more realistic resistance.

Thanks guys, but I am looking for one that has the row paddle style setup, like an actual race boat.

The ones I'm finding look cheap as hell.

Why? Actual world class rowers train on a C2, but you can't?

All the "row paddle" ones are doo doo. Like Mingo said, the pros train on concept 2s. If you're not buying a racing shell and getting on the water, they're the next best option.

I like the range of motion better, the full paddle versions have a greater range. I don't dislike the Concept 2 at all, I used to have one.

Your range of motion is up to you. If you really open up your chest, shoulders and back there’s nothing those Gazelle looking gimmicks can offer.

Like has been said, Concept 2 is the gold standard.
