Recommendations on a weighted vest?

I've been doing a step program in addition to my lifts and occasional boring gym cardio but it's obviously not very taxing

I'd like to try the idea of adding an adjustable weighted vest to the equation. I see there are a number of weighted vests that vary in style and price.

Looking for one that won't make me look like an active shooter also...

well I was going to recommend the 5.11 vest, which is what I have

I guess it depends on what you plan on doing with them if you want to go expensive or cheap Amazon vest.

If you are running in the vest, I'd spend the money on a better one, but if you are just wanting to do weighted squats or pull ups, I doubt it matters.

I don't need any more weight for pull ups

I have a tribe wod and the vest with the plates is significantly cheaper than just the vest from 5.11. I'd recommend it over 5.11 just based on price.

full disclosure: I did not pay for the 5.11 vest

It's definitely the most expensive vest (at least I think), but its also pretty lightweight and comfortable while running, which is what I care about

I've worn some of the cheaper vests before and they about rubbed my nipples off while running

For sure, the tribe wod was free returns and had good reviews so I figured I'd give it a try for like 60% of the price. It actually looks almost exactly like the 5.11 and the shoulder straps are actually a little more adjustable.

I've used both and if the tribe wod wasn't worth a shite I would've spent the money, but if you put the two of them on I don't think you'd be able to tell which was which if you didn't already know.

I have a Runfast rm40p from Amazon. It can also hold up to 160 pounds. I only wanted the 40 points in 4 pound increments. It’s comfortable.

Thanks, just added to my wishlist

I'm probably going to wait about 6 weeks or so to add this to my routine

Honestly, the tactical vests are the best in my opinion. Sleek design, easy to load and easy to adjust. I find that the fitness vests are bulky and have too many moving parts.

I'll keep that in mind. This is something I'm looking to add further down the road so not in a huge rush.

I hit 10.7 miles yesterday. Don't think I'm ready for that type of distance with weight added. I'm carrying plenty of extra weight as is

You can use the weighted vest on walks. Good carry over to general fitness.

I used to wear an Xvest a lot in college. Could load up to 100lbs and not see it under a coat.

I now wear a waited pack.

I'll try to do two laps around the big lake at LSU with a 60lb pack.

I do it in the months leading up to a trip out west with a ton of walking. Currently kicking my arse at 290lbs.
