I did a 48-hour fast earlier in the week ... water and decaf coffee only. I do 24-hour fasts on a regular basis so the 48-hour one wasn't too bad. I may try to do 72 hours next months.

23 pounds in 3 months. Back to preflood weight and real close to wedding weight. Got married 10 years ago. Unfortunately that is not goal weight so I have more to go.

Went 28 minutes with 1:30/1:30 splits. Pedal rate was 86-90 114/120
I’m going to increase tension but not sure when I should.
Rode 7.82 miles though on the thing
I am not sure maybe tomorrow may try a hill climb as I have done flats since returning

today: whey protein shake, a couple boiled eggs, low sugar oatmeal, 2 pieces of baked fish, brussel sprouts, and lima beans
Walked for almost an hour before work, worked 10 1/2 hours (90% of that on my feet and a lot of walking), after work: 21 minutes on the row machine, 20 minutes light jog treadmill, 22 minutes on the elliptical.
Not trying to lose weight. Just trying to eat healthier, be more active and keep my mind busy on my path to sobriety from alcohol. I feel 1000X better than I did boozing every night and eating like garbage

Nice!! Congrats on your decision in sobriety. It can't be easy, but I bet it'll be one of the best things you'll have done for yourself.

Alright, back on the sober wagon for a quick 2 months heading into Memorial Day. I want to work on my strength, fish, and golf so sobriety is needed. Work really kicked my arse the past 3 months, but now I finally have some free time.

I'm not totally abstaining from alcohol but i really don't drink much lately. Sunday we celebrated my FIL's 60th bday so I had about 2oz of champagne, a 4oz red with the tenderloin he cooked, and then a finger of scotch but that's the most I've had to drink in a couple of months. Maybe 1 1.5oz bourbon per week or so.

Update: Hit 255.3 this morning. That's my goal.. well, kind of. I want to get my average weight to that. But it was exciting to see.
I'm down to 2000 calories/day. Crossfit 3-4x/week. On days I go to Crossfit, I also walk 30min in the morning. On days I don't go to Crossfit, I go for a 60min walk in the morning. If my weight loss stalls out again soon, I'll have to increase that to 60min walks every day. But I'm very close.. my last day is May 3. May 4 I will be reverse dieting until I get to my maintenance, then maintaining for 8-ish weeks, then hitting another round of weight loss.
I'm at a point where my workouts feel like shite and I'm having trouble recovering, but I'm pushing through at this last stint here at the end. I'm so close to my goal and I can't give in now. I'm ready for more food.. I'm hungry an hour after I eat and so basically just stay hungry all day despite being in ketosis.
Some positive news: salt pills 15min before I head to the gym significantly improved my gym performance and helps reduce the headaches from electrolyte imbalances of early ketosis. I am still drinking my keto-ade.

Can you subtract some of your calories (other foods) and replace with fats so you are not hungry?
Posted on 4/18/19 at 8:31 pm to madamsquirrel
Since I'm doing keto right now, I really only have fats and protein. It's just the caloric intake is low for someone at my height, weight, and current activity level. Even though I'm on medication for my thyroid, my maintenance calories are still lower than would normally be predicted. Toward the end of a diet period is always hard anyway
Today wasn't as bad. Yesterday was a particularly hard day hunger wise. Ups and downs. Getting some crawfish tomorrow

I've got crawfish boil tomorrow as well. Easter and fasting on Sunday!
Awesome work that you've done Hulk.

One of the best parts of keto - crawfish boil can easily be keto af. Also chicken wings. But those have to eaten sparingly since they are fried.
Crawfish berl today. As usual in my family, I soux chef'd for the boil. Won't be long and I'll be the one doing all the boiling and teaching a youngun while the old folk sip on beer and enjoy. I'm 30 now so the old folks are actually getting old
Had a small breakfast, ate a single tray and a frick ton of sausage. Gonna skip dinner most likely. If I get really hungry I will eat a little something but most likely won't be hungry with all of the bloat to come from crawfish.
ETA thanks

Have completely fell off the wagon after these last 2 weeks. My student dying has screwed me up mentally. I’ll get back going after Easter.

That's awesome but when did you decide to go back keto and why? Whatever works though.
Gonna post up something at the end of the week with studies and graphics that you will be very interested in.

Started keto toward the end of March. Around a month ago. I did it for a few reasons.
1) Primarily convenience. My wife wanted to do it because most of my in-laws that we see on a regular basis are now going keto. Her dad has been keto for like 6-7 years, but now her sister and BIL are keto as well and are loving it. She was going to go keto whether I joined in or not. So, rather than trying to meal prep for two completely different diets, I decided to just follow along.
2) Hunger management. I was getting to a point where I was extremely hungry, pretty much all day long. I know that's just a part of dieting, especially closer to the end of a diet, but I figured the appetite suppressing benefits of keto would help out here, and I do think that it's helping me here at the end of my dieting cycle. I'm still getting pretty freakin' hungry most days, but the hunger doesn't have the same sting.. the same voracity. I'm just hungry and can deal with it most days.
3) Many of my favorite foods are keto-friendly so it's really not difficult for me.
The biggest adjustment on keto has been in the gym. I saw a MAJOR dropoff in performance in my workouts for the first 2-3 weeks. I still don't feel 100% but the workouts are better, probably 90%. I started taking electrolyte salts prior to workouts and that helped tremendously. I still bonk on longer workouts. For example, yesterday's WOD was run 5 laps (about a mile) then 5 rounds of pull-ups (i did banded) and hspu (I did push press) and about halfway through the pull-ups and push press I started getting really dizzy, seeing spots, kind of blacking out. Hit my 20min timecap.

those are great reasons why you should choose keto. Its why i do it many times.

This is my problem on keto. I have a large performance drop off, not in intial strength but sustainable volume at certain intensities.
One thing that has helped me though with non keto is going pretty damn low fat and very volumous foods to help with just overall volume of food consumed.
Posted on 4/23/19 at 5:14 pm to lsu777
Yeah I haven't had any dip in strength, but volume is a problem.
I thought I was doing a good job of that but then I started following Mike Israetel and following his current cut... That dude defines voluminous but not calorically dense eating. Dude eats like a half a loaf of diet bread per meal

Get wings at a pizza place: Domino’s, Papa Johns, Little Caesar’s. They don’t have fryers, so they bake their wings in the pizza oven. MUCH better on keto.

I’m back on the wagon. I’m down to 235. I finished my first 5K this morning. I ran 89% of it and finished in 32:45! It’s a great feeling

That’s awesome!! I’m working up to running a race. I have NEVER been a runner, and stopped C25K multiple times when it got to the 5 minute run because I was intimidated, but I’ve been doing some other cardio recently and just tried running again a few weeks ago and found that I can now get into a rhythm and run more comfortably.
