Wrapped up Dumbbell Strength today. Too tired for a full recap of the last few days and comparison of current vs 6 months ago. I definitely see improvement almost everywhere; heavier weights and/or better form. This plan and I have a love-hate relationship. I love the intensity, but damn do I hate some of the rep schemes.

this is me everytime i try it. looks awesome and then you are 10 days in and like WTF!!!

As a very self-aware and introspective hyper addictive manic personality in recovery from obesity, I gotta tell you that lifting has improved every single aspect of my life these last 3 months.

Wrapping up Week 6 of Grasshopper.

Have a good weekend

So what's everyone's recommendation after 70's big? I'm just about done with it, and am looking to try something else.

so far i have done

70's Big - so far so good. It is a great program with a lot of variety and definitely not as difficult as I had expected. Though I do have Day 17 tomorrow with the 100 squats.

Silverback 3x - love this program.

Strongville - wore myself down on the final week and couldn't finish due to not enough sleep. Didn't take a proper deload between silverback and this.

Hypertrophy Remastered - started it 2x and couldn't continue due to lack of sleep.

I am thinking either Oaktree or Brickhouse?

I have progressed the most since taking up PPSA programming, that i have in the prior 5 years. I think i will stick to his plans from here on out.

Did Pool Season 2, loved it. Now on Filling up the Hoodie. Just finished week 1 and so far it seems easier than Pool Season but only first week. There are some really high reps many that are 25. Wear your arse out but really fun

Brace Yourself Day 1

Took a month off barbell to run DB Strength. Moving back to barbell today was an adjustment. Even just shouldering the bar for squats felt odd in my shoulders. My last 3 workouts have been at 5pm, 4pm, and 3pm. These afternoon workouts have me drained.

Nothing today was especially hard or easy, but it felt tougher than the typical day 1 of a plan. I'd say the BB RDLs were the easiest portion and the last set of squat the toughest. I'll see how these first few days go, then reevaluate my TMs. I may back them off some and give myself a bit of a break.

lsu777, you are one of the gurus here. I am ready to get my arse in gear and I have just been middling for the past 2 years. My wife is tagging along as well.

Stats - 6 feet, 202 lbs, 47 years old. I have a full gym in the basement with free weights, a smith machine, and cables. I did Orange Theory years ago and was good. My ideal weight was when I was working out every day and I was about 185. I felt great.

Wife - 5'7, 142, She does Burn Boot Camp 2 to 3 days a week but isn't happy. She would like to get tone in core, abs, and glutes. Would also like to be around 130-133.

I know it starts in the kitchen, and I am the cook and am going to start modifying what we eat. More lean protein, veggies, etc----less bullshite like chips and processed food.

Where should we start exercise-wise. I am interested in doing a program together, and am wondering if Grasshopper is the place to start. I don't want to dump 30 bucks if it isn't worthwhile though. I need something that we can do in under an hour, but that she and I can do together.

Make sure you eat plenty and lots of sleep and watch for elbow soreness. Great program to build those back arms

Grasshopper is where you start. Prolly run first 4 weeks extremely light, prolly just the bar for her adding 5 lbs a week for first four weeks, then after the end of week 4, start the program over with new training maxes and run for the full 8 weeks as written. From there you will have a good 12 weeks of momentum and good basic strength training under your belt where everything isn’t sore all the time and you know how to do the lifts.

Then you can proceed from there.

I’ll give you diet and path forward tomorrow when I’m at computer and not on my phone

I will look at periodic.

These PPSA’s now have my attention and I may join in on one in the fall. The question I have is, what makes these programs better than a traditional PPL or bro split? Genuinely curious. My main goal is building muscle and dropping BF%. I’m currently lifting 5-6x/wk doing PPL.

Periodic is gonna be pretty hard, the carrys in strongville is usually what gets people.

But if you want a compromise, run pool season

Well they are just intelligently programmed by someone that was considered one of the best strength coaches in college football before he decided to walk away after USC.

Plus they are fun AF and it’s way just use 90% training max, get after it not missing reps then add 5-10lbs every month to that TM and continue in.

Plus they are mostly 4-8 weeks long so you don’t get bored. People see a ton of progress on them. They are mainly full body but pump city is ppl

I think you would enjoy them, but they b are not 6 days a week. Don’t need to be lifting b that much, especially with you in a deficit

They're good programs but not the best. Easy to stay motivated with them being so short but I do think most people are better off sticking to the same exercises for longer periods of time and trying to beat the logbook. PPSA has a general list of the same general exercises but rotates them over time
