No race but did 6 miles and am done with first week of training. Did them in 56 min and 30 seconds which is by no means fast but is a good start. My initial goal was 2:10 for my half but I am beginning to think sub 2 is possible.

If you're running 9 minute pace for 6 while training, you can get a 2 hour half as long as you have the mileage built up.

Posting this here because I think the injury is running related and I hope that's alright with you folks.
I did a standard 3.5 mile run two days ago. My left ankle nagged me a little throughout but I finished in good time. Now it's killing me. It's like a very sharp pain in and around the Medial Malleolous. Very painful to walk. The thing is there's no swelling and very little (dis)coloration. I'm wondering if it's some sort of bone bruise. FWIW my calf muscle is pretty tight as well, wondering if its related. Any runners here have experience with this sort of pain/injury? I'm jw if it's something that will go away on its own with r&R or if I need to see someone. Thanks.

4 miles today, 33 minutes. Tomorrow might be a gym day or a rest day, depending on how I feel after work tomorrow.

15k race today 57:30ish little short. 2nd Overall. Wanted to do 610s but it was a tough course.
Did a 4.5 shake out when I got home. I’m a little frustrated but it looks like I’m primed to peak for my one year anniversary race December the first.
@ REG did your arch fall? Go see a doctor dude and not a GP, like an actual podiatrist.

6 mile race pace run yesterday with 750 ft elevation gain.
14 mile long run today and finished with an 11:47/mile pace that doesn’t include the two five minute breaks I took.
I can’t do the pace run/long run weekend combo any more. Nor can I run five days straight without a break like I did this past week. Just not ready for that yet.

Dayum hog - 2 grade A Prime races there! Your LV time got you entry to Chicago? Just keep knocking these out and scouting so when I decide to do my first traveling race I can lean on you for guidance! Haha
Burt - No shame in that finish Brah, although I’m sure you are your own worst critic.
Stringed - No sweat, just gotta figure out what works for you. Still on track for your race?
Got in a 3 mile stroller shakeout with my son and wife today.

Thanks man. Yeah, I'm pretty hard on myself but I know it was a good effort. Mile 2.5 to 8ish were uphill so it could have been real quick on a flat course.

My process is this:
1) If the pain affects my form, I rest until the pain subsides and the injury heals.
2) If the pain doesn’t affect my form, I still run but take it easy and stop as soon as it seems to get worse during running.
3) If the pain gets worse or stays the same after resting, I go to the doctor.
You need to go to the doctor.

On the injury front, I bought an ankle sleeve a week or so ago while messing around at Academy and have had zero ankle pain since. I’ve been running in it and wearing it around the house often. Sold.
Also I ran the race yesterday in the Adidas Solar Boost and am not a fan of the upper at all. Way too stiff. It led to some aggravation on the top of my foot near the ankle. Perhaps I had my laces too tight, but I much more prefer the sock like fit of the Escalante and what I imagine the Zoom Fly to fit like.

Thanks for the advice, I guess a doctor is inevitable at this point. I’m just curious about how I hurt myself and how long I’ll need to rest it because a) I hate not being able to exercise and b) I have a 10k coming up.

Yeah my LV time should guarantee me Chicago entry
I’ll have to start a race review
For anyone wondering, I don’t have much to compare to yet but was not the biggest fan of the LV course for the full, the half seemed awesome though

Why not? Looked like y’all had a climb at the beginning (not that you’d have any issues with that)? Was it all after dark?

Hills werent bad at all. It was pretty much all after dark, which typically is fine for me, but that does bring me to my biggest complaints
There was an industrial area where we circled around like 3 times, and then a huge empty parking lot with no lighting that we did the same. By the time I got to the parking lot I had fallen off the 3 hour pacer and was lost in there. Ended up slowing more than I wanted so the 3:05 pacer could catch up and I could follow him.
Pics for reference and to the silliness

Yeah, that sucks. Sounds like they ran out of room in plotting the route. Can’t imagine the logistical nightmare of putting that race together in dealing with the amount of people, traffic, etc and how condensed the strip is.

I can’t quit buying running shite. Just bought 3 pair of Drymax socks while laying on my couch.

I know it's beyond stupid, but buying little gadgets and things motivates me to get out and keep going sometimes. I am trying to quit.
In a slump the last couple days. Crazy that I had a pretty good week last week, but bad weather this weekend made me push my long run to today. Now more bad weather today has me splitting the long run into two treadmill sessions. But I couldn't roll out of bed for the first one this morning. Here's hoping I find motivation by lunch.

Oh no doubt! I'm sure I'll have to burst out the door and go "try out" these new socks when they come in.
You got anything coming up race wise?

It’s crazy the things that can motivate you.
I ordered a pair of new shorts last week, and on the day they came in, I had pretty much talked myself out of running, but when I saw them I got excited and ended up running 8 miles in them
And just FYI, Huckberry has Myles Momentum shorts 50% off right now. Some of my favorite shorts.
