Yeah they weren’t random, I definitely put my expected time when signing up. Yellow was supposed to be for the slowest runners, after the blue and green waves. You probably would have been much better in the start if green or end of blue

I'm thinking of these as a Christmas present. Came to my "sports mobility chiro" today to use his pair after the long run. Theres a less expensive brand for about 400 bucks. They really do make your legs feel better after a tough run or bike. Just stupid expensive (Normatec is like 1200 bucks)

Flipping through some pics of the 10 mile race this past and this guy just defies all the marketing/gadget saturation, etc that most (including myself) buy into. Those from the New Orleans area probably know him (Ian Carr) as he usually wins or does very well in local races.
Dude wears the same outfit every race, wears an old Timex Ironman, has an old pair of Saucony shoes, has no muscle mass, etc. I was talking to him after the race making small talk in the beer line and he checked the bottom of his shoes and they were flat as a board, no sole left. I find it pretty refreshing that he is basically a walking (running) contradiction. Just got it in his blood.
I think his 5K PR is like 15:00, he ran the 10 in like 58:00.

They had some cool smaller compression devices we were able to try at the expo. They only did calves, but felt great. I’ll post their link when I find their card. I think it was $150

15k this Sunday. 20 percent taper while keeping intensity. See if I can go sub 1. Today’s workout will be 800s @ race pace. Wish me luck.

there's a guy i run with like that. he's had the same pair of mizunos that we started running with 3 years ago. they look awful. he wears them for trails, sprints, long runs, biking, whatever. he also can go 2 months without running and then beat every one of us on a 10 miler.

Headed home today
Sore as hell from the marathon. Not sure when I’ll be running again.

i can't imagine getting in a plane after a marathon or half. my wegs are so wobbly anyways after a flight. i'd cry. i ran a half for fun a few weeks back in San Antonio and then rested that night. 2 hour drive home the next day and i almost collapsed when i got out of the car.
32 degree run this morning. temp was fine... but i figured out about a mile and half out that the wind was at my back. turn around at 2 and it was full force out of the north. i was pretty sure i'd never feel my face again.

No shame in that man, you had a great showing.
Did y’all get time to enjoy Vegas? First time there?

It was our first time here, and we did enjoy it
Did the whole tourist thing. Watched several shows. Probably way to much walking. My phone says I’ve walked at least 6 miles very day since Wednesday and walked 10 miles yesterday the day after the race.

I had to army roll out of bed yesterday and walking down the stairs to the kitchen seemed like it took forever. Feeling better today, I have to take a short flight tonight to Fresno and not looking forward to it. I can't imagine a flight from here to Arkansas after your run.
Glad you enjoyed the city.

3 hours of sleep. Hard day of work on my feet and talking all day.
Cranked out 6 miles this evening.
Edit - oh and I also registered for the 2019 non-guarantee entry Chicago Marathon.

I'm guessing the starts aren't random?
There are a lot of dumbasses on this planet that don’t know how to queue.
It always a pain juking and jiving through a race you trained for. Those you’re dodging have no clue what they’re doing and probably registered for the race the night before.
One day I’m going to be the a-hole that’s too slow. Line up in the 3:00 corral and run at a 4:00 pace. Let others dodge me, damnit.

Damn I love running in cold weather.
5 miles @ 7:46 pace this evening.
I was all alone out there too. No idea why people get scared of a little cold.

Does that mean you’re feeling pretty good about Huntsville?

I got on a flight at 7:15 in the morning the day after my ironman. Luckily I wasnt that sore. But my legs were spent for days. Walking from security to the terminal was torture. Sitting on the plane for 4.5 hours was a treat.

I had a conference there last year at the cosmopolitan and brought my wife. It was 2k steps from my room to the conference floor. Made that trip probably 5 times a day minimum on top of running the strip every day and doing stuff with my wife. I finished that week at 200k steps and complete dominance on my step challenge.

Oh no way. I was sick for almost two weeks and don’t really feel like I’ve gotten strong enough for 26.2 miles yet. I have a 15 miler this upcoming weekend and then the big 20 before a two week taper. My 19 mile run was brutal at the end and I’m really struggling to see how I’ll run a 10:15 pace for an entire marathon.
BUT...
I at least feel confident that I can finish. I might end up run walking some of it but I’ve gotten to the point where I know I won’t DNF.

So here is the plan I am using.
Runners World
Day 1 was 4x400... goal was 2:09 per 400 and I got through them all in 1:51 or under
Day 2 (today) was 3 mile tempo. Needed to average about 9:37 and averaged 8:59
2 day and 27 more training runs to go. I am beginning to think my goal time (2 hours 9 mins) is conservative.

Sounds like a good start!
Just don’t get discouraged if a run doesn’t go well, or you even have to miss some
