5’-7” 145

Down from about 162 since I’ve started focusing more on running, in May.

“I’m ROOTING for you”

Damn.

Today’s run was too fast and too inconsistent for a tempo. That’s why I was bitchin. But yeah, what a terrible problem to have.

Yeah corney as hell. 45 isn’t crazy out of reach; you’ve got a month to get some good workouts in.

12.4 easy miles Sunday. 1500 yr swim and 1hr bike ride Tuesday. 4 miles easy yesterday. 7 miles today (1 easy, 2 tempo, 1 easy, 2 tempo, 1 easy). Kind of proud of my tempo runs when I've been dealing with nasty stomach all day from drinking last night.

4 easy tomorrow and 14 easy on Sunday.

Im a big fatty at 5'11" (wish I could say I was 6') and about 188. I've been bouncing between 185 and 190 for the past two months while I've been doing this HMTT. Monday through Friday I do pretty well, and then the wheels fall off on Saturday and Sunday and I eat and drink back all the weight I lose. Wash, rinse, repeat.

My goal has been to get down below 180, so maybe after next weekend I will get back to tracking food and not rewarding my big run days with unrestricted caloric intake.

7 miles this afternoon. 9:05 pace. Run felt great. Stopped for about 30 seconds because I got stopped at a trail that ended and had to climb some rocks to get back to road. Haha

Stretch run now. About a week left.

5’10 and 165-170. Built like a line backer, not a runner.

I’m a former 240 lb. guy. Even though I’m in the best shape of my life I’m still flabby. I don’t know if I can remove my love handles without cosmetics.

All that being said.... 13.1 tonight. Would have been my best half but my wife called with an emergency and I lost my key to my car at some point and had to backtrack to find it.

5’11” 177 right now (down from 230 on 11/5/17)

I’ve been tapering AND eating bad the last 2 weeks

Need to get back below 175 for next weekend. My self control has been out the window for some reason.

I took my 11 month old on her first trick or treat last night. Bad idea. Haha. Just candy laying around the house now. Those mini snickers are the devil.

I was 250lbs the day after St Patrick's Day 2017. I estimate I haven't weighed this little since maybe freshman year of high school, and that says a lot about my lifetime of fatness.

Hmm seems like a different training program than I’m used to seeing. Any reason to not use a more traditional progression?

My reasoning this time is that I have already been running 10 miles or so on weekends for just about this whole calendar year. I know the typical progressions add a mile a week or so up to 20 miles about 2 weeks prior to your race.

I just figured I could build up and get a 20 miler in earlier than 2 weeks prior.
Just don't know if this would be worthy to do or not.

53 miles so far this week. I got after it this morning. Walked for almost 3 hours at an amazingly shitty pace but got in over 9 miles. Was misty/ rainy the first half, and then windy as all hell the second half making it cold AF. I walked all the over this little town and was pissed I couldn't walk by the Bay more than I did because the wind was awful. On pace for a PR in miles for the week which I should hit by tomorrow

It would work, for me personally I’d rather just build up beyond 20 miles. Maybe like:

13
14
10
15
16

18
13
20
22
14

24
20
12
8
Race Day

First post in this thread. I am coming off a 1.5 year injury layoff due to achilles tendonitis. Started carefully running again in the spring, while also biking and swimming. The summer sucked but with the the cool weather I am now starting to see training times approach my pre-injury levels. Today was a 5 miler, 8:18 pace with last mile in 7:38. I want to run Turkey Day 5 miler under 40:00, so this bodes well. I am 5'8", 167 lbs; down from 188 in January. Thinking of running the Rock N Roll half in February, and maybe a full next fall if I can avoid tearing my achilles or other major injury. Running post 50 yrs old is a dicey proposition.

Welcome to the thread!

Got 4 miles in this morning indoors, so not exactly sure what the pace was but felt around 7:45-7:50

I've read conflicting articles about training for marathon and how far to run on long runs.
Some say don't run more than 20, it wears you out, some say you need to run a full marathon to condition your body
