From reading a few of those, it appears doing 0 lower body strength training may be a major culprit. I've been running for 2ish years now, with 0 plan just ramping up mileage with no goal. Probably should've checked in here when I first started, you guys are a treasure trove of information and it is appreciated. Will take another few weeks off and start doing some sort of lower strength days. Thank all of you guys.

Running thread throwback: anyone know wtf happened to Burt? Randomly popped in my head, hasn’t posted since 2021.

Good luck. Even though I know better, I still have trouble motivating myself to do MYRTL and similar exercises regularly. Now that I am approaching 50, coming off of SI joint and gluteus medius injuries, and trying to rebuild after years of little activity, I really have to do better.

I was wondering the same thing. I know that he was going through a divorce.

Weird, I was just thinking about this the other day. I checked his post history this week just to make sure I wasn't missing anything.

There were a couple guys on here that I think IRL’d him or followed him on Strava.

I got so dehydrated last night that I drank 90oz of Powerade, and 35oz of water with LMNT and didn't have to pee until this morning.
Don't be like me.
I was also so hungry I ate a Large Sub from Firehouse and a bowl of Mac and Cheese on top of the powerade / water...
Last night was rough

Had trouble straightening my leg out this morning getting out of bed, called ortho and he told me to come in. Shot up bursa in that knee to get swelling down. He has done shots in both knees for arthritis before, but that one today was extremely not pleasant. Also referred to PT, will give that a go.

Just finished my threshold for the week on the treadmill
20 minute warmup
10 minutes at threshold, 2:30 rest (somewhere right under 7:00/mi pace)
8 x 3:00 @ slightly faster than threshold, 60 seconds rest between reps (started somewhere around 6:50 pace and worked down into the 6:30s)
10 minute cool down

8 miles of zone 2 last night, 145HR with 11:20 pace. Added 3 mins of 180+ HR to finish. Felt good. Way better than Tuesday night. Drank beer. Ate wings.
Long run tomorrow AM. Figure I’ll do 10ish on Lakeshore Trail. Nice and flat with plenty of scenery.

12 at Black Creek trail this AM. Lots of college and high school kids there today. Nailed a 142HR. Paced 11/mile. Felt better than Tuesday, but damn it’s hot. Lost close to 4lbs sweating.

I think I'll be out there in a little bit to do my long run. Woke up this morning at 4:45 and just nope'd back to bed. Nothing like humidity so high that shade doesn't matter

I like Black Creek better than Lakeshore and Jemison. It’s flatter, has more shade, and the packed gravel is easier to maintain a pace. I need to go there more often. It was a little disconcerting that Fultondale Police had some sort of tower parked in the parking lot.

Bruh. What’s the significance of “nailing” 142 HR?

What's the vest doing for you? I've always been interested in them but have never pulled the trigger.
Also, side conversation. I keep wanting to buy one of those weight sleds. Does anyone know if they would benefit for running training, maybe in lieu of weight training, or at least substituting a day or two a week?

Increased cardio without the impact of running. Builds core and endurance over just walking. Prepares me for hiking with a backpack for hunting season.

Nice. So you get similar benefits from cardio for slower paces?
