My recommendations always vary depending on the kid.

If this is someone that’s competitive than spikes definitely. If we’re talking a boy that’s going 22 minutes for 5k it honestly doesn’t matter that much. You can definitely do carbon fiber racers but they aren’t needed and honestly may be a bit of a hindrance if yall get more rain. Spikes will never lead you wrong.

As far as exact shoes I’ve been out of competing so long I’m not sure which exact spikes are the best currently. Seems like dragon fly are super popular but even if you just kept it “cheep” with the rivals or other brands equivalent I’m sure your athlete would be fine. Just make sure whatever you’re getting them feels good on their foot.

That's the #1 choice for most runners at all levels. There is also an "XC" version but most people still go for the base Dragonfly.

Did yard work with the weighted vest today. Managed to maintain a 132 HR for 2 hrs. Cool way to turn a chore into a zone 2 workout. Not sure I’ve ever sweated more in my life. According to my Garmin, I lost more water weight today than I did on my 12 mile run yesterday. Wild.

Yeah this hot weather is for the birds. I've had to cut my workouts short a few times already.

And I'm drinking so much water to stay hydrated that I'm pissing like a racehorse

I completed my longest workout in almost 4 years yesterday and feeling good today. It seems that I am heading in the right direction.

I wish I could, I wish I could just "accept running inside" but I know running in this heat makes the cooler months that much sweeter, so I continue to do it.

6 at 9:20 with a little more terrain today, outer left knee is sharp pains again, almost as bad as it was 2 months ago. Going to take a few days off and do myrtle and glute work and hope that clears it up.

5 800s today - had 6 on the docket but dialed it back due to just not being there (also because I cooked the first 2 at a sub-6:00 *this was actually my 2nd fastest half mile* and sub-6:10 pace which were waaaaay too aggressive with it being 83 degrees outside)

I might put a few 400s into the docket tomorrow or Thursday to make up for it, who knows

I did 6m in the middle of the day @ 8:49, I'm pretty sure I sweated 10 pounds of fluid in the 53 minutes

It is keep a beach towel in the car so you don't soak your seat with sweat weather for sure. Half Frozen watermelon after one of those runs just hits different.

Knocked out a Mona Fartlek this morning, fun and tough workout for sure.

I am really really liking my Adidas Boston 12’s (even with the not so great upper). Anyone here have the Boston 12/13 and Adios Pro 3/4? Curious how the Boston 12/13 compares ride-wise. I’d return my VF3’s for a rockered and springier version of the Boston 12
