5 today @9:15 in the middle of the day. Not being a morning person really hurts me in the summertime
Around this time of the year I typically start waking up at 4-430 so I can be running at 6.
Still 75 with 95% humidity. By the time I'm done with my run I'm drenched and I still find my HR climbs significantly as the temp creeps near 80.

2x1000/4x400 this morning in the VF3.
Overall pretty similar to the VF2%, definitely a little softer and I like the upper better. I think I’d prefer something a little more firm in the forefoot but I don’t think I can return/buy anymore super shoes without getting fussed by my better half. Would love to try Adios Pro 3 or 4 or the Asics Metaspeed Edge…hard to find on sale though. So VF3 it is!

I raced marathon in VF1 and have pair of Next%2. Both good shoes but in general I really liked the AP3. Unfortunately didn’t race in them so don’t have that as a comparison. They are definitely more firm. Haven’t had the need to try AP4 but finishing up a pair of evo sl (400 miles). They have better fit than AP3 but softer and not the same snap.
Anyone looking for a trail shoe I suggest trying Topo mountain racer 3. The 4 is out. Wore this straight out the box for my days in the Dolomites. No issues and great traction. Running g warehouse had them for $110

I think I’d like the AP3/4 based on liking the Boston 12 (trash upper aside). A Boston 12 with a better upper and a little more stack would be sweet.

Topo are great. I had the Specter but wasn’t exactly what I was looking for…didn’t love it, but didn’t hate it. I’ve heard the Specter 2 is better.

Mont Blanc should be awesome. Would love to go out there to the race.
You can do it. Hikers and runners coexist on the route runners have the right of way.
107 miles with 10,000 feet of elevation gained and the winning times are in the 20 hour range!!!
Not camping staying in the Refuges so pack weight will be 12-14 pounds so we can run some.

I’m well aware of the race but you’re slightly off on the elevation gain. Its 10000 METERS so 32,000 FT.
I would like to even spectate. The finish line through the town with the crowds is amazing

Oh just a little Everesting with downhills in between and hardly any sleep, no big deal.

It’s taking a lot of patience to run/walk back into shape, but I have missed running so much it will be worth it. The strength training is a must to rehab my si joints and right gluteus medius.

Patience and consistency. Easy to say way harder to execute.

Is there a good carbon plate cross country shoe? Do most high school xc runners wear spikes?
Posted on 6/27/25 at 8:16 pm to RandySavage
I'm pretty sure the Dragonfly is the gold standard these days. Not sure how much carbon helps in XC but the Dragonfly's got it.

I bet Pedro can answer both those question.
I trail run (and hike) in Nike Wildhorse 6s which is an old shoe so no carbon.

Not sure about carbon plated but XC flats are a thing. Joes New Balance Outlet has them on sale often. Depending on course and conditions, I’ve heard of kids running in Streakfly or Vaporfly too. Seems a little risky IMO.

I have Saucony endorphin edge, which apparently they don't make anymore, but it has a nylon plate and has been great for me up and down mountains.

Easy run today with the run group. 12 miles @ HR 140. Think I lost the group at mile 4ish and never saw them again. Everyone’s zone 2 must be WAY different than mine.
No real sense in going anymore. I’ll just stick to my solo long runs at the house and sleep in.
