7 on the treadmill. I'm starting to move some of my runs inside because the heat is sapping my energy.

Down to 20-30 miles a week right now. Been doing more rucking and lifting than anything else. I’ll be at Peavine, but don’t expect much.

Anyone here have the Boston 12/13 and Adios Pro 3/4? Curious how the Boston 12/13 compares ride-wise. I’d return my VF3’s for a rockered and springier version of the Boston 12
I have the Evo SL and the Pro 4.
From what I understand the Pro 4 is like the newest Boston and the Pro 3 was like the Evo.
The Adidas Pro 4 is the best race day shoe I have ever run in. (Superblast 2 still takes the cake on best overall)

I'm running with my buddies and didn't even get a bib. I'm just going to enjoy it (then breakfast after wherever we can find food since everything will be closed for the 4th

4m @ 13:30
Had to run walk due to IT band aching on my right side .
Going to PT Monday hopefully dry needling can clear it up like it did on my left side a few months ago.
Either way signed up for a 50k for next wknd so ice and inflammatorys may be on the menu for Saturdays run.

Think I’m going to grab some AP3’s. They’re on eBay as low as $160 right now.

Let me know if it works. I've started doing myrtl everyday again and have noticed a slight improvement. Have started doing lunge matrix/leg swings pre run and it seems to help a little as well. Good look on that 50, brave man to be doing it in this heat lol.

Well…. That went better than expected. Crushed a new PR on that race. Previous best pace was 9:14. This year’s pace was 8:48. Top 5 in my age group out of 36. Finally got to meet Baddest in person.
This race is one you just run. It’s like a dare: hot, humid, early AM on the 4th, 1000’ of climb on the first three miles, straight back downhill, but throw in 1.25 miles of switchback trail to end. There are no casual runners in this race. There are a handful of iconic races in Bham and this is certainly one of them.
Drank beers. Chatted with some run group buddies. Came home. Napped, hung out with grandkid, and BBQ’d. Good times.

It was great finally introducing myself to you! (especially since I've known who you were for awhile
Yeah Peavine is this weird mixture of fun, iconic, and terrible. I'm the only person crazy enough to show up and run it without a bib.
Did 14 miles today @8:43 with a different run club in the area than my normal. Was soooo humid

11 on dirt/gravel roads Friday. Tried to walk down a hill to the creek when I finished to cool off and left IT band was screaming again, guess I'm taking another couple weeks off to try to rehab it. Anyone got any tips? Been dealing with this since April and just running through it but it's not working.

IT band for me was a footwear issue. Once I got out of high drop shoes, IT band was fine.

I completely understand.

You been doing myrtl routine stuff? Adding that in after runs 2-3 days a week helped me. Also focus on strengthening and flexibility in your hips. The pain happens down the side of the leg to the knee but the culprit is actually where it attaches to the hip.

Haven't been doing it consistently but familiar. Farthest I had ever ran was 15 on street last year, did a 27 mile trail run in April and by mile 20 i though I had an LCL tear. Took 2 days off and have been trying to run through it and it hasn't worked.
I guess I'm going to take a couple weeks off and try what you and aubie said.

Last time I had any IT band issues was when I put 30 or so miles in some Brooks stability shoes that Fleet Feet fit me into. I switched to neutral shoes and never had an issue again.

From what I understand (which frankly is very limited, I work in IT and have never really had IT Band issues...) - IT Band issues mostly arise from shoe incompatiblity. I don't need stability shoes, I actually stear people away from them if you plan to make running a thing you do "seriously" because I feel like stability shoes weaken your natural cadence and can negatively impact your gait. (This could be his issue, but who knows)
Brooks have given me some ankle pains in the past, but nothing else.
IT Band issues just seem to hit people like my hamstring issues do, and my hamstrings give me trouble if I'm overdoing my mileage.
Also - once again, so many issues I've seen with the "serious" muscle groups (IT Band, Hamstrings, hips, etc.) have been a mixture of too many miles too quickly and poorly fitting shoes.
I wouldn't go minimalist line Aubie does, that's for a special kinda crazy person lol, but I would try to get a wider toe box for with minimal drop for 60%+ of your runs

Starting to sound like running 15-20 miles on street a week and jumping straight into a trail marathon was not a great idea then. I'm going to take a good 14 days off to rest since I never let it heal, look into some lower drop shoes and start doing some lower body strength training, since I absolutely neglect that.

I advise the lowest drop and lowest stack height that feels comfortable for running. All my every day footwear is minimal.
Did run Peavine in my Vivo trail shoes. Love those shoes. Wish I ran more trails.
Recovery day today. 30 mins of jump rope at HR 120. Hour of zone 2 on the track at HR 138. It’s hot out there.

43 miles last week, capped by an 11 mile long run on the treadmill. I'm averaging somewhere around 6 hours per week. I'm not sure where I can squeeze out additional mileage without some short runs in the morning to double. My wife might kill me

Yeah think my wife would tolerate my shoe buying more than running 40+ miles per week lol.
I got three pairs coming in. Snagged some new Adidas AP3’s on eBay, then won two auctions on shop goodwill. Got a pair for VF3’s for $83 and a pair of Saucony EP3’s for $44.
