Vo2 intervals done

2 mile warmup, 10x400m in 1:30 with equal rest, 6x125m kind of set up like flying sprints, 1 mile cool down

Nice intervals make me want to throw up, I don't even want to start them, but when I'm done with them I feel like a King

Did my last long'ish run today at a respectable pace:

14 @ 8:09 - speaking of fuel, I tried out TORQ Gels today, I liked them so much I might even use them at my marathon in 2 weeks, I could literally feel them hitting my system and they went down SUPER easy (ETA: and tasted good which is more than I can say for almost any other gel)

I'm a goblin, I LOVE 400m repeats. They're just the right amount of pain to get me going

Good luck at the marathon. How's your taper going to look?

You should try out my idea. Add a 5 hour energy about halfway through your marathon. You should peak right at the mid point and be on a caffeine high till the end.

Workout this Tuesday, Small Run on Thursday, 10ish miles on Friday or Saturday.

Then 4ish miles the next Tuesday, 3 Miles on Friday, then the Marathon.

I always play taper by ear, and how my body is feeling / recovering

I should peak around the halfway point but I would be either be DNF'd due to a blowout and embarrassment or in a Porta potty

Today's race report:

21k/half marathon
Pine Mountain- 2200 feet elevation gain
2:31 - good for 3rd place (yes it was a small field)

Felt pretty good, considering the 100 miler last weekend.

Local 5k today after my 27 trail race last weekend. 24:46 with the stroller. Legs smoked from last weekend, glad there's no races for awhile. Good for 2nd in age range so another medal for my little girls room, time to freaking rest now. 6 races in 8 weeks was DUMB.

Course was really pretty but also pretty hilly. Really happy with that time but really hating life now on a 5 hour drive home. I'm fading hard

Gulf Coast Classic 10k
53:00
8:32

About what I expected and legs were super dead from go. HR hardly broke into tempo range.

Fat Boy 5k is in the books. Had a goal of 23:30, actual finish time…. 22:23! Didn’t see that one coming but I’m not mad about it either.
Mile 1 - 6:59
Mile 2 - 7:15
Mile 3 - 7:22
Mile .1 - 7:05 pace
Been smoking ribs and chicken watching the masters and having a few beers to pat myself on the back.

Meant to ask you, I'm eyeing the big 50 in pine mountain next month, was the race you did out there?

I don't know how you do this, it seems really bad for you. I know i can't, even when I carb load.

Did not have any issues. I haven’t taken gels mid long run before. Heart rate was towards the bottom of zone 2, wasn’t running hard, did not feel like I needed any carbs/energy. I would have drank water last 3-4 miles but I don’t carry any with me. Was’t bad though, no dehydration symptoms. I usually get 150-200oz of water per day so I rarely have hydration issues. Temperature and humidity were both good so that helped.
