Is there really a designated course? Thought you just had to find your way to each book location or something in a loop-ish fashion.

From what I understand it's a little bit Orienteering and a little bit Ultra Marathon. It's a loop, but along the way you have to find the page piece that Laz has put out there, which creates the loop.

All I know is you are given your watch (so you can't use your own) and a new map every lap. The Map is where the page it, and you must do the full loop, and it's different every single loop.

There isn't necessarily a "designated course" but I believe their is a "main path" that they want to get to once they have found the page, because it will just make it a little easier to finish on time, etc.

The YouTube videos of it are pretty cool. I had watched them before I had even ran a marathon and thought to myself that those crazy frickers must do that when a 50m/100m is to easy!!

Louisiana Half (Sunday before MLK day) is better than Zydeco (typically mid March but seems to vary a week or so) size wise if you like to have people on the course.

Louisiana Marathon is my favorite race. Great course at a perfect time of year.

Longest run since January marathon and zero IT band issues. Gonna start cranking up volume for an ultra in June or July.

Yeah I haven't had a solid week since the half in January. Longest week was 27 miles then it all went to shite and everyone is still sniffling in my house a month later. I'll try to hit around 30 this week, run the CCC in April, then have a really solid summer so I can do some fall races. I started dropping hints to my wife that I might want to spend the winter gearing up for the Louisiana half again

Tried to run slow today for 3.5, didn't check pace as I went but the average was 9/mi and 162 HR. I don't know what that means. It felt easy though. No shirt on Wednesday's run, this morning it was 27. Schizo weather time of year.

Rattlesnake rodeo 5k this morning, 22:53 pushing my 18 month old. Finished it and turned around to run back to find my mom to run with her and wound up running closer to 5 miles with stroller. Already devoured an affogato and a pint of ice cream.

20@8:23 HR 130, weather was perfect but I'm heavy. The hay is in the barn I guess. Two week taper then let it rip.

Also, is the 8-10 mile massive dump inevitable? Every freaking time it gets me

Which race are you doing?

I have the same issue - the simple answer is no, I don't really have the problem anymore but it took 6 marathons to figure out what my trigger was.

Best thing you could do is eat breakfast 2 hours before you run - then do a warmup mile an hour before the race (I drink coffee at breakfast to help it along), then go to the porta potty and hope you can get everything out.

I find that eating a ton of fiber daily was the only way to keep me regular enough to take a big enough shite pre-run to feel comfortable

Horse Capital Marathon in Lexington.

Yeah, I've been getting up super early (for me anyways, I know everyone on TigerDroppings hasn't slept past 4 AM since they were 12) to try and get them out before the kids are up for too long so I pretty much eat and head out the door. Hopefully for the real thing I'll have a little more time to let it clear.

Can’t wait to see how you hold up over 26.2. Your miles and heart rate are really good, hope you crush it. Reminds me of Ben Johnson on Instagram who went from not being a runner in 2019 to running like 6 sub 3 hour marathons per year by 2023.

I knocked out 8 today, which is the longest I’ve ran since my half back in January. Just been too busy to get longer miles. I have 16 miles on my On Cloudmonster Hypers and I have to say I really like them. This shoe got bad reviews mainly due to its stupid price, but they are regularly on sale for $160 or less right now. At that price, it’s a solid cruiser. I also happened to like the Cloudmonster too, so that might put me in the minority of people who get along with On running shoes.

~ 25 miles for 7 days
Was shooting for an ultra in July and may have to try and find one in June due to work conflicts.

Went ahead and picked the warmest morning of the year to attempt the 5k workout that was suggested to me from here lol.
Mile warm up -9:02
1k - 6:58 min/mi
2k - 7:13
3k - 7:22
4k - 7:28
5k - 7:33
Mile cool down 9:17

That did not go well at all. Goal pace was 6:30-7:05. Legs got tired fast and felt sluggish the whole run. Perhaps it was just a bad day... At least I hope so. May try again in another week or two to see if things improve.
