She somehow found him in the results .. she knew he looked roughly her age so she looked up marathon results and found his pic on Instagram.

Dude finished in under 4:30 .. think it was like 4:20.

I hope he feels ok tomorrow.

On another note, some girl dropped at the finish .. looked like she was having a seizure and imo it took toooooo long to get a medic to her.

About 10 minutes later she was standing g up on the side near the finish line .. I’m guessing it was really bad cramps as seizures would be a reason to take to ER.

Ran the Zydeco Half yesterday with good weather conditions. Wind kinda sucked, but temps were fine. Hit my sub 1:45:00 goal with a finish time of 1:43:51. Goal B was 1:42:30 ish and had a shot until the second half of the race. Pleased with the progress made since the Louisiana half marathon. Improved by 11 minutes in 2ish months.

Had a friend out running his first full. Went out of course to find him and saw some guy just laying in some guys yard around mile 23/24. Come to find out he pulled something in his back earlier in the week and was just in a lot of pain. I was told he was a BQ type runner, just not his day.

I have a 27 mile trail race in a little over 2 weeks and these stories are starting to worry me lol. Goal is just to finish, I've ran up to 18 miles on trails leading up to this and will follow nutrition plan that worked for me on those. The route has us passing 4 aid stations with food/drink so I'm thinking it will be OK. Hoping anyways.

Definitely not as experienced as many on this board but when I ran a marathon back in January my longest run leading up to it was 19m. My goal was just to finish somewhat strong and I did with no walking and maintaining my pace throughout.
I suffered some IT band issues the weeks after the race but none during and I’m trying to up my volume and focus on leg days during workouts instead of skipping them as I prep for an ultra this summer.
That being said a buddy of mines son trained along side me pretty much mimic the modified higdon plan I was following and he ran the same race 10-15min faster than me 4:15ish and never had any issues but he’s 21 and I’m 49.

With it being a trail I don't mind having to walk and fully plan on walking a good bit, anything under 8 hours and I'm happy. I've been sober 2 years and have dropped 120 pounds with diet/ running and set a goal this year to do an official 5k,10k,half and full trail race within 6 weeks of each other. Half and 10k are in the books, doing the 5k this weekend pushing my daughter in a stroller then the big one is last. Very dumb idea, but the mental push it takes is a good feeling.

Congrats on the sobriety!!
I wasn’t an alcoholic but drank to much and was overweight and out of shape. Decided to start walking to get in shape for an elk hunt and just kept walking and running. Ran a couple 5ks then a marathon in January and now training for an ultra.
Having a big goal and the smaller goals has caused me to keep moving forward.

What ruck do you use? Haven't been on one since my army days but have been tempted to start back. Another excuse to hit some trails. An ultra is a huge end goal for me, but with an 18 month old, going to college and working full time it's hard to find time to train right now.

It’s a amstaff tactical vest.
It was on amazon with good reviews and on sale when I bought it. So far no issue

Assume this is flat like everything else down there right? I hate it when they leave the elevation off the course map!

For the most part flat. There’s one area with some hills starting at mile 8.75 to 10.25. On the course map it’s a loop in a neighborhood. Other than that’s, pancake flat.
Good course for friends and family to watch from downtown to see runners more than just start and finish.

Aubie my daughter just ran the AU half and said it was super hilly. This compared to that is nothing .. for your who live in this are, typically people will go to this one area to run “hills” .. it’s the most elevation around here.

I ran the AU half and it had more elevation than the Mercedes in Bham. It was hard and had a lot of weird transitions from sidewalk to road and then to track and then to stadium. I set a PR, but it was because of training and not because of the course. I love give the LA people hell over their ‘elevation’ from time to time. I need to start doing some halves outside of Alabama.

Tuesday night run club. Did 3 miles at 138HR and 3 miles at 162HR. Getting ready for Statue to Statue and a local 5K.

For those who care, the Barkley Marathons got underway a bit before noon today. Good weather should result with multiple finishers this year.

I had a feeling this was coming after so many finishers last year.

Is there really a designated course? Thought you just had to find your way to each book location or something in a loop-ish fashion.
