hyperion max - are you asking about V1 or V2? i think they really changed b/w the two. I had V1. very firm until it broke in and then i enjoyed it. put almost 500 miles on them which is rare for me
I have the v2 - they have the nitrogen infused DNA foam and a Pebax plate. They are phenomenal at MP and HMP, but I did my 1k intervals in them today and they weren't as responsive or comfortable as I would like.
I'll use them for 1 mile repeats, 1.5 mile repeats, HMP work and MP work. They are very comfortable and have just enough responsiveness, I don't know if I have another shoe that feels as good at MP than these

You guys like gels or chews better and domost people wear a belt to carry this stuff? Also how long does the run need to be for them to even be needed
It depends on what I am trying to achieve.
For training I don't fuel any runs that are shorter than 8 miles.
For anything over that it depends. If its just a low and slow Zone 2 long run I typically won't fuel it. If I plan on incorporating any harder efforts then I will usually at the cadence of 1 gel every 30 minutes.
Normal GU gels are fine for training. For races I prefer Maurten or Precision Hydration gels.
I carry them in my pockets as I bought running shorts with zippers, but my Flip Belt works too
For a full marathon I typically take in 1 gel every 3.5 miles.

Mine are Max 1.
I was surprised at the issue they caused because they felt really good out of the box. They did not cause pain during the run and felt really responsive but the next day or two was miserable. I initially thought it was because I was out of shape or doing too much but anytime I’d wear other shoes I couldn’t replicate the issue.
I now wear them as a work shoe when I’m standing for 8+ hours and they feel great.

Just an update on the journey of returning to running:
Had some pretty rough knee issues that I've trained through. Been doing a lot of the Knees over Toes stuff as well as dialed back on miles and speed for a while. Also bought some Hoka Challengers. I like to run on trails, but I also have to stick to pavement some when I don't have time for trails. These seemed like a good balance for someone who likes to run both. Kind of a "gravel bike" of shoes.
Best couple of runs lately:
8 miles, mainly on rocky trails at a 12:48 pace this past Sunday. 1k elevation gain. That's my longest run in years. I used to do some 16 mile runs back when I was into trailrunning, but that was in my 30s. I'm 51 now.
Went yesterday and knocked out 5k at 8:49 pace on a paved route, which is my best 5k pace.
The best part is that knee pain and stiffness has been minimal. I already do Pilates one day a week, and I've been trying to have a solid stretch and foam roller session one day a week as well. I probably need to do some kind of stretching or movement routine before/after run... anyone have any suggestions? Have some tightness in hips/glutes after that long 8 mile run and one knee still has tightness in quad above the knee when I do deep squats.

Got you. I had the original Hyperion from back in 2020 which was similar to the Hyperion Max 1. Didn’t like that shoe much. I’ve heard the Hyperion Max 2 is great.

10 miles @8:37 - Avg. HR of 142
Ran in my recovery shoes, trying to make sure I can crush my pace miles on Saturday. Gonna be a tough 18 miles with 5 at Marathon Pace.
So another question - 4 weeks out from my marathon (which is 3 1/2 weeks from now) will be my 22 mile run - should I do a bunch of pace miles in that run? I will have a cutback week next week, and not quite the mileage in 2 weeks I've been putting in (gonna rest a bit that week as well to make sure I'm ready for a 5k on that Saturday, but still going to do 20 miles total the day of the 5k). So with my cutback week, and a slightly less than normal mileage week, I should be going into my Peak Week pretty strong right? So I was thinking 10-14 pace miles? I'll still be 3 full weeks away from the marathon at that point

Good deal bro. Big fan of the Knees Over Toes.
Six miles total tonight with 4 1/4 mile sprint intervals. 1:30 x 4. Ended with pizza and beer. Good times.

Did 8 miles on pavement today at a 9:55 pace. Crazy how fast I can run on pavement vs trails.
Nothing structured at this point other than workouts in morning then alternating cycling and running in afternoons. Enjoying just setting out on a run with a loose route then sort of creating it as I go depending on how I feel.

Been lurking for months, first time poster. 10k trail race 2 weekends ago, Montgomery half this morning, PR'd both with a 47:30 and 1:48 today. Blister popped at mile 5 so the last 8 were fun but weather was perfect today.

Did 12 miles this morning. I was going to do 18 but quickly audibled out of the 18 when I realized my body couldn't take it this morning. Was going to audible completely out of the run at 5 miles but ran into some friends doing pace miles.
Did 1 mile on, 1 mile off for 8 miles with them and then did 1 more mile on and 1 mile off.
My pace miles where all between 6:50 and 7:15. Finished the 12 miles at an average of 7:51. Very happy with the results and with not running the extra 6 miles.
My body needs some rest, but I at least got my aerobic in for the week and will end this week at 53 miles - a week after pacing a marathon.
Now time for some MUCH needed recovery

Slept in this AM. Got in some base mileage after the VO2 session from Thursday. 13.5 miles, 139HR, 11:15 pace. Felt ok. Late morning is prime time for the Lakeshore Trail if there are any singles in Bham. Wow.

Planning on going 15-16 tomorrow morning which will be the furthest I've ever run. Here goes nothing...

Good luck man. I know you did the war eagle run, if you live up here I have been parking at the ER on camp auburn road, running down donahue to 14, down 14 to Will Buchner road to Richland road, back 14, down to the big cat then back to car and it's right at 15. It's a quiet route, timed right you get to run back into town watching the sun rise.

Got my first double digit run since OKC in today. 10 @ 7:18
Got 5 @ 6:44 with a couple 6:30s yesterday. Gonna do a light 6-7 with a buddy tomorrow to put me at 39-40 for the week.
Track practice starts next week so that means AM running for me which I’m not looking forward to at all
