Death by 5k this weekend.
Which one are you doing?
I just pushed my wife through the Death by 5k in Tyler TX.
Super easy as far as the physical aspect. You can virtually crawl the loop in the allotted time.
The killer was when the 1-ish a.m. and 4:30am loops came and it was a major mental grind.
I think that is the toughest part about it. Go run (or walk in the dark) for probably no more than a total of an hour, then come back and sit for an hour and a half.

Oak Mtn Alabama. Not concerned with the miles. More concerned with what you said in running and then sitting for 2 hours at a time. Doing it with a few buddies so should be fun to hang out and watch some football.

Pr'd my half marathon time at a race by 7 mins on saturday. Now time for Death by 5k this weekend.
Man I wish I could have gone to the KultureCity half, looked like a Ball.
Good luck with Death by 5k... I would probably end up just dying trying to win

That was the thing about the 100 miler - you just kept moving so you didn't let "exhaustion" set in really

13.0 miles @ 10:43
Really felt good and averaged 9:20-10:00 for the first 5 then slowed to about 11 for the last 5 or so.
I was following higdon plan somewhat after running a 5k this summer but just gave up trying to keep the schedule between work and just life.
Buddy of mine who has run several marathons said don’t worry so much about the format as much as getting the mileage in per week and building each week.
Currently running 1 3m easy run
1 3 mile tabata run listening to a tabata playlist so sprint then jog.
One long run a week currently at 13m and ran a 10m last week.
Thoughts on this being a successful plan for a marathon in mid January? Not trying to win lol just finish striong and not hurt.
48yrs old never have ran longer than 13miles before.

When in January? We're a week out from December and you're going to want to taper the week before and also stop increasing mileage around 2 weeks before to avoid overworking/injury.
Do you have any specific goals outside of just finishing a marathon?

First run with an air temp below 70 and dew point below 65 since I moved to Miami today
Effortless 7:45 pace 5 mile run after a 100 mile bike
Too bad the warm humid weather returns this week but it still should be good for my 13 miler tomorrow

Got a house full of sick people, myself included. Never seen my girls so miserable. Hoping to find time to get out tomorrow but not looking great as of now. Two months til my half so suppose a down week isn’t gonna kill me anyway…just sucks it’s the nicest weather we’ve had on a weekend in a while.

For your 1st marathon that sounds great. Just make sure to give yourself 3 weeks to taper on your first Marathon and get a 20 mile run in. Those were the biggest things I've seen.

12 Miles today at 8:45 pace - I think I saw Aubie as I was heading into the final mile

Finished Death by 5K. The course was 3.5 so ended up clocking 35 miles instead of 31. Such is life when signing up for a trail race. I thought it was pretty well put together, food was kind of lacking but the people who put it on were nice. It was very cold at night but we had a pretty sizeable crew there that made it bearable making it through

3.5 at 8:45/mi before it warmed up this morning. I love doing runs this week, it feels like I'm earning all the calories that come. Donuts right after, of course. I guess I will have to run again.

I am planning on doing it this year. I had to do the virtual option last year. The reviews from the folks that did it last year were generally positive.

Give a report please. Never been to Hattiesburg and wouldn't mind killing a weekend there.

Turkey day race roll call - who's running what?
Running local 10k. Last time i raced a 10k was 2015 CCC. I've been able run lately. mostly just general mileage nothing really race prep focus so will be happy if i can match my last result of 41:48 with 6:45 pace. Hoping for some magic. I won't have to worry about it being too warm, race start temp forecasted to be in the low 20's. Just need the current ice and snow slush to be gone.

I’m doing the New Orleans Turkey Day Race. Been sick since last Friday so certainly won’t be going for any particular time. Might try to get some miles in before to have decent long run day. Maybe 3 easy before and run the race at tempo or something.

Local 10K here. It's typically well attended with 1200-1500 people showing up. Rain is forecasted for Thursday AM, so we will see if people actually show up. No real expectations for this one. Do three easy miles pre-race, then just run my race: 170 HR mile one, 180 HR 2-5, and 185+ for the last mile. I'd love to get in the 7:15 range.
