3 mile recovery run this morning prepping for a 15 miler tomorrow.

I hate recovery runs. Worst runs of the week.

You can get a forerunner 35 for like $150.

I'll give you one of my old watches so that your runs will be uploaded under my name. Between the two of us I would crush that leaderboard.

It's on the list of things to buy.

I'm just cheap and can't bring myself to throw away my old watch while its still got life in it.

Although I probably need new shoes first, as I'm still running in my Newtons that are missing a lug on the forefoot

Another 5k test run today. Knocked another 23 seconds off my pace from 4 weeks ago. 35 seconds off the pace from 8 weeks ago. Another bump up in my Vdot score. I'm certainly in better shape. But I am not even feeling good today. This weather just opens up another gear.

Current Vdot projection has me under 4 hours for a marathon and that's my goal . Lots of work left, but hoping to get a bit better than that while still building.

My marathon goal will be 4:30.

Getting close to running outside. Tried it last week end, but sun wore me out, even though it was only 75 degrees.
Tomorrow is forecast to be rainy/ cloudy so should be ok

I'll take that bib off your hands if you can't make it.

That’s been my worst fear along with injuries

Of course today I feel like I have some niggles everywhere, probably just in my head though

I’ll run through it, but my wife’s bib is available for the original registration rate ($60). She injured her knees.

Do people walk only for things like half marathons?

Asking for a friend

Like walk the full 26.2? Seems like its be doable for a 13.1, but miserable for 26.2.

I’m not one to complain at all but less than ideal for me for the Northshore Race also. As I mentioned dealing with a week old newborn and the lack of sleep and what’s worse is I’m dealing with numbness in my lower leg during and after my runs this week. Not sure WTF is going on. Too late to try and tweak shoes, etc so just gonna roll with it. My fitness is there to accomplish my goal so gonna hope the leg holds up. I can handle the numbness but if it brings cramps, etc it may be an issue. One more day of rest can only help.

Didn’t you say you ran a Half in 01:30? I take it you weren’t walking? Ha

They do, especially in the Disney races.

If you mean the whole race, yes. Not many can walk 26.2 miles and make the cutoff time.

As far as walking during the race along with running, I’ve read about and talked to numerous people whose best marathon times came with walking. Hal Higdon says his best time came when walking through every aide station.

Today's 10 mile run had highs and lows. I started off well but about halfway through it became imperative to find some facilities. I was just about to switch from DEFCON2 to DEFCON1 when some portalets appeared on the horizon and my bowels, body, & ego were saved. After the pit stop I hit my fastest mile and all was good.

I always walk aid stations on longer races. Not to rest, but to ensure I get enough water. I can take my gels on the run, but running through an aid station means I get maybe 2 half cups of water and most of that is splashing as I try to drink. Take 10 extra seconds to make sure I get my fluids.

Maybe a different story if I was actually fast.
