I've been dealing with nagging foot pains for the last 9 months. Over the weekend, I put on an old model running shoe and been using them this past week and my feet have been ok. DAMN YOU SHOE COMPANIES that always want to "improve" by drastically changing the architecture of the shoe.

I have to go find a new shoe/model to run in. I've been using Mizuno Wave Inspire from model 9-13 over the last 5 years but these 13's have been giving me the issues.

I had this happen before with Adidas Supernovas. I wore those for 7 years before they drastically changed them.

Let me tell you how crazy it is, my feet are ok now but within 5 minutes of wearing that shoe, I can feel a pain similar to plantar fasciatis. It goes away after warmup and then an hour or so after a run, my feet are just sore, tight, aching. I've never had that problem for one hour runs.

Still at the Hospital with the newborn little guy. Treating him for some slight Jaundice but hoping to get released today or tomm. All else is great.

That said, been tearing up this walking trail here at Woman’s. Hit 5 miles @ 9:13 easy on Monday and 3 @ 8:23 just now. Feels great in BR right now with the overcast. Started raining as soon as I finished.

Bib and packet came in the mail yesterday for the Northshore Half this Sunday. Still planning to run it but have tempered my expectations, due to lack of sleep this week and missing my long run last week. No end in sight for the sleep deprivation obviously, although my wife has agreed to give me the “night off” Saturday night before the race. Hoping for the best. Weather looks great in Mandeville for the race.

You might surprise yourself. Missing your long run this late won’t hurt you at all. As a matter of fact, your probably primed since you’ve taken the overtraining risk away and the sleep that matters is the sleep you get on Friday 2 days before the race.

Good to hear things are pretty good with the wife and baby.

If you get your head right, you could have a great race. Cheers!

Glad to hear your wife and child are doing well. Just a heads up... You will have the sun beating on your back for mile 5, as well as in your face for miles 9 through 11. The rest of the course will be well shaded. Might want to wear some sunglasses for that last run toward the park.

Thanks for the advice fellas. Hoping to rest up Fri and Sat nights especially.

BnG - I’ll bring some shades. Looks like a high of 71 low of 51 for the day, sunrise at 7:06 and start time of 7:00. Not sure what the dewpoint will be, but like I mentioned earlier, should be pretty ideal.

Got in 9 miles at 7:10 pace this evening

Going to run a half this Saturday and try to be faster than that, fingers crossed.

Today was a scheduled 7 miles. I ran the first 3 miles by myself @ 8:34 pace, then met up with the run group for the other 4 miles. Second half of the run was @ 8:26 pace and probably would have run faster but I had no carrot.

I am loving this fall weather

I’ve been there. Got into distance running about 16 months ago wearing ASICS GT 2000 5’s. Then they came out with the 6’s and they felt different on my feet and had terrible reviews.

I don’t know why they feel the need to discontinue shoes. Just come out with a new one if they feel they’ve found some state of the art technology.

The only shoe that everybody seems to love more with every iteration is Brooks Ghosts. Just saying.

Speaking of, in some perusing I got some Skechers Ultra Road 2s for $25. A lot of people said that they picked up where the Hoka Clifton left off. Apparently hey abandoned cushion and turned some people off.

7 miles this morning. 9:05/mile pace on the flat and down hill parts. 10:50 pace on the behemoth hill mile.

50 degree weather is niiiiiice. I could have kept that 9 minute pace for a while longer easily.

Man. What a difference cool weather makes.

I was only planning on running 5 today but the legs were feeling froggy and the weather was perfect, so I was able to push 8 miles at 7:12 pace. Ran the last 2 at sub 6:30.

Felt like I could have held that for a half.

I freaking love fall.

Amazing pace. Too bad I don’t believe you because it’s not on strava.
