How do y'all get your shite together and move on with your day after AM runs? I'm training for my first half, did 6 miles Sunday first thing in the morning and was useless most of the day, completely worn out.

Simple answer is you just get used to it. If I’m running 12+ miles one morning, I do like to have 1-2 hours after I finish to shower, eat, sit on the couch, and relax for a bit before going about the rest of my day.

29 miles total last week. Build continues until I get around 40. My 12 week HM block starts in late October

i have been dealing with a mild plantars the past few weeks as I've ramped up for a half. A cold kept me off my feet for a few days and limited my milage which helped

my milage hasn't been much more so i had to rack my brain to why it happened.

i concluded

1. i am fat

2. doing a lot more speed work

3. the second i am done with my weekend runs i am chasing a 3 year old around because my wife is very pregnant

i think 1/3 are the main drivers of it.

You really do get used to it - and if you don't do it gradually you end up with an injury as well. (It is recommended not to increase your weekly mileage anymore than 10% a week with a "recovery" week every 4)

Unfortunately when you are going from nothing to a 100 miler training like I am... you just grit your teeth and hope your body doesn't completely fall apart before you get to peak week. (you also listen VERY closely to your body and take a day off when you can't walk down stairs without a sharp pain in your hamstring... or anything similar to that)

I imagine that the answer is different for everyone depending on where they are as far as mileage goes, but for me anything under 10 miles means that I'm awake and refreshed and ready to get things done (after maybe 30 minutes of cool down). I do tend to be a little sluggish the rest of the day if im out more than 3-4 hours though. Even then, I can still be productive after a shower, some food, and a short nap.

BoCam - hopefully this was a confidence booster for pinhoti. two more months of prep and much better weather to be expected should make for a successful race.

Yeah absolutely it was. I lost probably 30 minutes to an hour dealing with leg cramps and getting electrolytes balanced back out. I know now that I can back off that pace significantly and still make the cut-off. I'm feeling alot better about Pinhoti now than I was going into the weekend. This race/run was exactly what I needed.

I need some shoe help. I am looking at the new balance fresh foam 1080 and fuel cell rebel v4. I only run about 10-15 miles per week so mileage wise, I’m not super hard on shoes. I am 234lbs and size 13-14 but have wide feet so I’m hard on the side of shoes usually. Any experience with durability concerns on either shoe?
I’m looking to be faster at distances of about 1mile to 8k if that helps. Not looking for marathon shoe.
Thanks

Not sure how these are, but I had the v3s. They felt really good at first, but the soles wore out quickly for me. Felt like they were showing signs of wear as early as 200 miles. By 300, it was bad and I had to pitch em. I’m also 190 lbs, so not a light runner.

6 Miles / 800m Intervals today

Felt good, was excited when a local legend (a lady that holds a few 100 miler records) showed up to do her intervals as I was wrapping up my last recovery run.

Got to run around the track with her a few times before I peace'd out.

Felt good. Drank beers.

Normally would have already run by this point in the day, but I find myself stuck between deciding to go out in the rain for an hour or getting on the dreadmill. I'll like try to find a light spot in the rain bands around lunch.

Love running in the rain. Great excuse for me to break out either the trail shoes or the huaraches. Hope it is still raining when I get out there tonight.

10k @ 7:47 then 2 mile cooldown @ 8:52 (on Lakeshore Trail)

The entire time I was wishing it was raining, pretty dreadful at points along the way

Is that threshold or VO2? A sub 8min/mile 10K pace is impressive.
