I will say this about the ES4: I can’t use them for anything less than just under (within about 1:00) of a race pace. They are not comfortable to me at my training speeds. Which is fine, as that’s Saucony's intent with these shoes.

Interesting, I like the toe box on those.

I want to get a pair of Superblast, but with Tunnel Hill I don't see a reason for a shoe like that. My current plan for Tunnel Hill is the minimal drop Altra shoe for the first part of the race and then switch to either a pair of Speed 4s or New Balance Fresh Foam X 1080s at some point in the middle. If I really need a 3rd shoe I will have a pair of Hurricane's to finish with.

Superblast will probably be the first shoe I buy once 2 of my Speed 3s finally kick the bucket.

6 hours on my feet this morning

28 miles and I hung up the towel, the last 4 miles I couldn't stay hydrated once the heat came in, my heart rate was spiking to 150 and I just called it. No need to train dehydrated when that won't be an issue in November.

28 miles is still not something to scoff at and 6 hours on my feet, I'm happy.

Nice work. Time on feet is key. Hydrate up and go out tomorrow minimum 10k and aim for 8-10. Moving on fatigued legs builds mental strength as well

Ran an 8K today. Wasn’t real excited about it. Haven’t run much in the last two weeks due to a sinus infection and lingering cough. It’s Aug 31st in Alabama. Heat and humidity are off the charts. My niece wanted to run a race and we picked this one. Ended up with my grossly out of shape brother signing up and two coworkers as well. OK. Guess we are running.

Given the conditions and the course (400ft of climb), I decided to take it easy. First mile at 160 HR, miles 2-4 at 180 HR, last mile blow it out. Did OK. Ran a 44:00 good for third in my age group. Last mile was my fastest at 7:30.

Glad to have my brother and his daughter out there. Both already talking about the Thanksgiving Turkey Trot.

Today was also on tired legs as well. I did 8 miles Thursday, 5 Miles Tempo (8:00 min/mile) Friday - that being said I had planned on at least 5 tomorrow, might bump it up to 6 depending on how I feel.

You weren't at Troupe's this afternoon where you? A guy that looked a lot like you was there, but I didn't think it was you

Forgot to mention this earlier when you asked about trail shoes. I think Nike is using Vibram outsoles across the line now, so might be worth a look. Saw a picture of the upcoming Terra Kiger and it has a full coverage Vibram outsole.

5k on Labor Day: 24:20/7:27.9

Meh. Tired legs. Recovering from upper respiratory funk and being dehydrated from Saturday night's festivities.

I need to get a little more serious with my training with that tri coming up in October. I think I'll layoff the al-kee-hall for a bit and focus on getting better rest.

13.1 miles 11:01 pace
Longest run to date legs felt good even though I haven’t been doing any long miles the last week or so. Was stuck trying to run on a treadmill and could barely make myself get 2-3 miles at a time, treadmills suck!!

10 miles today. 6 at 130HR and last 4 at 140HR. Tried getting up early and going with the run group, but couldn’t get motivated. Started at 8AM. Still felt good out there. Hope this weather is for real.

Having a weird sharp pain on the bottom of my hamstring when I sit down or go downstairs so I decided to sit out my run today. I'm at 37 and my recovery run isn't going to make or break my plan really. A fully blown injury would though

P.S: No pain when walking or running, so I think it's something very very small, just need to rest it let it heal whatever it is.

Ran the Rebecca Mountain 50 miler yesterday. 5700 elevation gain. 12:06. Had to fight off quad cramps for about 15 miles in the middle of the race, but felt pretty solid otherwise.
