In the teens I basically run with a thin base layer and shorts and a short sleeve shirt over that. The colder it is the thicker outer shirt, but still short sleeves or sleeveless. I have some that block the wind better than others. Only cold for about 3 minutes max even when it's windy and teens. Visor on the head because that's what the light is clipped to, and a headband for ears on top of that.

I always over dress. By mile one or two, I’m generally down to just shorts and shoes. Not sure why I put the other stuff on.

Today I ran my first race in almost two years. Endurance is in the trash. Speed is nowhere near where it used to be merely two years ago. But it felt good to run and be around other runners. And, as it is my experience, the M 40-49 was the most competitive group so if I want to compete I gotta start the training back up again.
To some of the runners thinking about runs in the cold & suggestions for layers, I think some of it is going to depend on where you live and what you can tolerate. I live in a Great Lakes and the wind can be brutal. I have a pair of windproof gloves (more like a shell) and a pair of midweight insulated gloves. If the temp is 40° or above I can get away with just the windproof gloves or no gloves at all. Below that and I put on the midweights + the windproof, or just the midweights if the sun is out and the wind is minimal. Unless it is brutally cold out I don't wear a knit hat, though I've thought about trying a headband. I still wear shorts but will wear a pair of capilene bottoms underneath more fore windbreak.
Avoid cotton as best as possible for anything in lower terms.

What are the best options for men's nipple protection? Just started training for my first half marathon and I'm feeling them hurting after my long runs.

damn, i was hoping just Vaseline or something would work. Anything for hairy chested guys?

You could try bodyglide on some of your long runs and see how it works

You can use body glide but it eventually rubs off. I've found tape works the best. Just use a little bit and you're be fine. Besides, you just get use to the pull-it-off-fast technique.

Recommendation for face sunscreen that doesn't burn when it gets in your eyes and taste awful when it gets into your mouth when you sweat?

Elta MD is dermatologist recommended but its pricey. i also use Hawaiian tropic silk hydration and have had no issues.

1st in my age group this AM in the local 5K. New PR for me. Have another 30 secs per mile I’d like to get to, but really happy with where I am. It’s race season! Post em up!

1st, PR and you still want to shave a minute and a half? I'm just happy I've shaved 30 seconds per mile since the temp average in the morning went down by 10. My PR is another 30 seconds faster per mile, not sure how I did that or if it ever happens again.

Congrats! What was the time?

Nice, that’s a great time even without knowing your age group. 30s/mile is a lot to shave off, start crushing some speed work and hill sprints.

ran 13.1 Saturday pushing a stroller. Temps were in the 80s with high humidity. my time was shite but always is with the running stroller.
that said, i have no idea how people get their weekly milage up for marathon training. Having a 2 year old doesn't help me but god damn i feel like 20-25 miles a week takes up a lot of time.
