I assume you like him? I’d probably run with him and help him make it unless you think just really embarrassing him might wake him up to get in better shape.

I would dust my brother simply for the sake of dusting him, and he'd gladly return the favor

Yeah man. My brothers are great. He's been trying to get geared up for it. He texted me yesterday after running a mile. He said he was likely to die on race day.

I'll probably pace with him unless the MFer starts walking!

I have the same issue with my wife tomorrow. She hasn’t been able to run as regularly as she’d like so not looking to go fast tomorrow. My answer is a lot more clear based on my relationship though She does normally tell me if I’m racing, then race and don’t worry about her but I’d feel bad ditching her so think I’ll run it easy.

What pace do y'all run your recovery intervals at? Just by feel?

Today I ran 6 x .25 at 5k pace with .25 jog recovery. Goal pace for the intervals was 7:00, but ended up running an average of 6:50. My .25 jog/recovery interval average pace was 9:35 though--is there any reason to go faster?

Mine are usually 9-9:30 with a interval goal usually between 6 and 7

As slow as I need to, even if it’s walking. Based on an excerpt I read recently quoting Patrick Sang. Said that rests need to be rest, so walking is appropriate.

6mi tempo this morning @~7:45 pace, bookended with 10 min WU and CD. Didn’t sign up for a Turkey Trot but this served the same purpose.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Well frick……

Was hyped about setting a new PR today in my 10K. Guessing I came out too hot and my light body weight leg workout hurt. Set a new PR for 5K, but was fading hard. Also, they had a 5K loop and a 10K loop. At the last minute, they decided the 10K would run the 5K course twice. I could have finished 10K easy, but knew the PR was gone. Learned a lot about what not to do.

That’s next week. Looking forward to that one.

ETA: I’m convinced my Runkeeper app is off. I may switch to Strava. According to Runkeeper, I paced 7:47/mile for a total of 24:25. The official chip time was 7:05/mile for a total time of 22:02. Same thing happened at my other 5K.

Now I’m not nearly as upset and understand what happened. I was going WAY faster than I had planned. Kind of excited about the 5K pace TBH.

ETA2: Looked up the last 5K. Runkeeper was :30/mile off the pace on that one. Is Strava better or do I need to breakdown and get one of the watches?

Has been hot crap for me lately. Clocking cycling speeds in the 30's when I'm doing 20mph and other whacky stuff.

I’m a big fan of my garmin 245 music. I got mine refurbished but it looked mint condition to me. I think they’re $100 off right now.

I’ve got a garmin 645 music I’ll sell to one of y’all if interested. My older brother just gave me a 6 sapphire. It’s pretty sweet. The 645 music was an awesome watch

I would absolutely get a watch. Coros is running a good deal right now. I like my Garmin 245 a lot but would probably get a Coros Pace 2 if I were shopping now.

Check with your health insurance too, usually offer solid discounts on Garmin.
