JBeam

this is the type of run that I think benefitted me the most to build fitness. Timed intervals. Stick with the 3min pick up working pace and then work towards lowering the recovery from 2 to 1 min and also work towards recovery pace being a working recovery, something maybe 1-1:30 min slower than pcik up pace instead of dropping 3+ minutes ( if you have this much difference).

Training for a half on Halloween. Using one of the Hal Higdon novice programs.

I’m about to go run 7mi, which may be the longest I’ve ever run. Wish me luck!

New PR for me in the 5K. Turned in 7:30/mile. Course sucks with a lot of turns and elevation 230’ of climb with the last 1.5 miles being uphill. Finished 2nd in my age group.

This race was the first one I ever ran 2 years ago. That race I finished in a 9:00/mile pace.

There is a local 5k that I've run 3 years in a row now since I picked up running in 2019. It has been cool seeing my progress since the first race.

Year1: 8:07/mi
Year2: 7:49/mi
Year3: 7:10/mi

Good to see everyone getting it this weekend! Good stuff.

True to my word, I'm yeeting the frick out of Arkansas. A company in Northern Virginia made an offer and I'm most likely going to take it after the official comes through.

Interestingly, I've been looking at race results in the area and they're weaker top to bottom.

Edit: Probably going to open my Strava back up after I go. Medium fish in a big pond means I'll likely not be harassed as much.

For being almost 50, I’m pumped. Still got a long way to go. New goal will be a sub 7 min/mile now I guess.

So I used to think the 300-500 mile rule on replacing shoes was marketing BS. However, I'm approaching 500 miles on my shoes and they really are starting to noticeably wear out. How long do yall usually keep a pair of shoes?

But I'm super tough on my shoes and I only do a one or two shoe rotation.

Usually 300 for me. But I just like trying out new shoes. I’m approaching 300 on my 1080v10’s and they’re surprisingly still in good shape but already have their replacements waiting to be run in lol.

Real talk. Is the USATF Masters Championships just a big fricking joke? I was really interested in competing next year but I checked the times, and I would have lapped the winner (17:XX); maybe twice if that time holds next year.

Seriously, a 40 year old running a 15 (hopefully 14:XX next year) can't be that rare. There's three of us right now in Northwest Arkansas that can go sub 16.

Edit: for clarity

I mean, it wouldn't be competitive so it'd be kinda meaningless right? Plus it's in Lexington, Ky. Not exactly a vacation destination. Fine town, but...

Anyhow, ran a good 21 this morning. Felt great. Apparently I was dehydrated though because I came home and pissed maple syrup right after.

10M race. Kept it around HMP. Last mile was 70 feet downhill so I went about mile pace on that. Felt strong. A little more optimistic about my goal marathon pace now.

What was the temp. It was crisp here in BR this morning. I was expecting to sweat a lot more than I did.

13.1 in 1:24:46 this morning.

Probably more aggressive than I should have been but feel like it told me a lot about where I’m at.
