Trail running is more fun anyways. Less stress about time.
I need to start running again. I’ve been hitting the weights hard this winter, but I can tell my cardio has gone to shite.

If I take a week off I feel like I’m starting over the first few runs

Logged 31 miles this week, most I've run during a week in at least 5 years. PT is over and I feel much stronger. Calves rarely pull and when they do I can recover much quicker. Going to lay down a January base then look to get faster.

Good deal, Jay. Glad to hear that.
I had a bounceback week this week after the diarrhea debacle last week. Last "long' run of my plan yesterday (12) and race is next Sunday. I start a week of vacation tomorrow, so looking forward to relaxing and taking it easy during race week. Of course the weather looks like shite for race day morning. Looks like a front of some sort coming through right at start time bringing 10-12 mph sustained winds with 25 mph gusts. Of course alot could change between now and then and hopefully it will.
I've been reading/watching/listening a good bit on carb loading for the Marathon distance. I've never done it before for shorter distances, so that'll be something new on me.
Man, I hope this wind forecast changes.

1) Anyone dealt with running post-Coronavirus? I'm on my last day of quarantine right now. I haven't had any shortness of breath but definitely get a little winded going up stairs (that never happened before). I'm a little nervous and I'm considering delaying the start of half marathon training by a week just to ensure I'm ready to go.
2) I plan to run either the BSL half marathon (if it is ever rescheduled) or the Hattiesburg half marathon (April 10). I have reached out to the BSL half marathon to see if and when the race will be rescheduled.
3) In terms of distance and scheduling, my running plan will be pretty normal and probably identical to my half marathon last year. Here is the layout for my plan:
Monday - weights and medium run (3 - 6 miles)
Tuesday - medium run (3 - 5 miles)
Wednesday - weights and medium run (3 - 5 miles)
Thursday - bike (20 - 30 miles if indoor and 15 - 25 miles if outdoor)
Friday - rest
Saturday - long run (4 - 11 miles)
Sunday - rest
My pace goals are simple - 8:40/mile (run); 3:25/mile (indoor bike); 4:00/mile (outdoor bike)
4) Please critique my weightlifting program.
Monday
Squats, 3 x 10
Dumbbell lunges, 3 x 10 (each leg)
Military press, 4 x 5
Cable shoulder raises, 4 x 15
Dumbbell curls, 4 x 15
Planks, 4 x 30 - 60 seconds
Weighted decline situps, 4 x 15 - 25
Wednesday
Deadlift, 3 x 10
Leg curl (machine), 3 x 10
Incline chest press, 4 x 5
Flyes (machine), 4 x 15
Cable triceps pressdown, 4 x 15
Russian twists, 4 x 25 (each side)
Weighted back extensions, 4 x 15 - 25
Please note I will probably not squat and deadlift extra heavy. The point for squat and deadlift will be to lift a challenging amount of weight but control the bar with good form. I will lift heavy (relatively speaking) for military and chest press though.
My goals are to run a half marathon faster than last year (1:55:13) and continue to get in better overall physical shape.

Tornado Alley,
Awesome man and excited to see you back in the thread.
Roots,
Remember I'm bad luck. I brought 97% humidity to Cotter Arkansas and I'll probably bring something equal or worse to Sugarland.
It was 34 & thunderstorms today and I had my longest treadmill run & 100% worst running experience to date. I just hate the treadmill so I did 14 miles broken up in 4 "sets" of 3.5 with some light weights in between.

Ha, anything but these forecasted 20 mph gusts if I’m able to choose! I have your #, maybe we can hook up Sat for a meal or something. I’ll hit you up.

Ran first trail race of the year. 25k with about 1,600 feet of elevation gain. Came in at 2:55. Very pumped. I'm not the fastest runner, so a sub-3 hour time for me is fantastic.
I also found out Garmin has a "Frosty" badge if you do an activity in freezing weather.

Took a week off and had my first run in a minute. Hips felt like I’d never ran a day in my life.
In other news. With work from home being permanent, and the weather being as unpredictable as ever, I decided to put up or shut up about it. Rower comes in today, treadmill arrives Friday. Now I can run as god intended, butt assed naked. It’ll also be nice to get a tempo on a flat surface for once.

What are yalls opinions on runners who run on busy high speed limit streets? Do these people have a death wish?
Posted on 1/12/21 at 9:30 am to GetCocky11
It’s a death wish, especially if they do it with traffic and music on full blast. Bonus points for non-reflective clothing and no strobe at night.

2 in 17:00 indoors this morning.
First run since 12/31 and contracting ‘Rona.
Didn’t have any issues. Looking forward to ramping up the mileage and getting to work!

What kinda ‘mill did you get? I’ve been looking at possibly getting one (wife’s idea, but I’m certainly not opposed).

A nautilus. Nothing fancy; will get the job done.
Edit
Since I’m essentially just doing a home gym thing and I have a wall mounted tv in that room, hp and top speed were my main requirements.

I would love to run down a highway out of my neighborhood a couple of miles to a good running area but i know within a year I'd probably be killed by someone texting.

I hate when I am traveling for work (back when people actually did that) and have to stay on a busy hwy with nowhere to run. I'll stay on the other side of town from my work site in order to be in a decent running area. And to hell with staying by airports. Never anywhere to run. Except LAX. There's a bike/run path along the runways all the way to the beach. Glorious.

3 miles in 25:13 (8:24/mile) on the treadmill this morning. 3 more tomorrow and 4 Saturday before getting back under the bar and on the bike as well next week.
Feeling good, bros

Has anyone seen these shorts in real life? I want to get some but I’m not 100% sure they aren’t really denim.
