If we haven't gone back up to Philly, the GF and I will most likely run LA Marathon since we missed registration for Miss GC. She'll be trying to set new PR at sub 3:20. We'll probably run some of this course on the weekends over the next month so I'll post when if anyone wants to meet up.

Good deal. I will likely be doing the same. Ran 18 this past Saturday with the Varsity Sports crew, starting @ the starting line and running much of the course. Invaluable training to be able to run the course. Keep an eye on the Varsity BR calendar for weekend group runs as most of them are on the course.

Tell ya what, I don’t know what happened with Saturday. I need to figure out what went wrong with my training. The weather was shitty but I shouldn’t have felt that spent at the half. The second pair of Alphas are getting returned for sure. My legs felt so beat up and I’m still very sore after only running the half. Maybe a little overtrained, with the shoes and the weather. Still trying to figure it out.

Yeah, gotta admit I was a little bummed to hear you DNF'd. Not nearly as bummed as you are obviously. What pace did you go out at? ... maybe you should call your old "coach" up

A modest 6:03 avg. My old coach is a finish at all costs kind of guy. I don’t jive with that bullshite. Just wasn’t my day. I’ll take another day or two off, then see if I can work something in for spring.

This is the second disappointing “race” I’ve had in the Alphas though. I’m a mid-heel striker so I’m curious if the Alphas are costing me.

Put in 5 miles today at lunch at a 9:00 pace. Just not feeling it today for some reason. Kinda hot. Mildly hungover. Oh well, got my miles in, stretched pre and post, and did some yard work.

The normal Turkey Trots have all been cancelled around here. Run group will be running at 6:30AM. I’ll do that instead. No defined route or distance yet.

Wondering the same. Turkey Trot still on as of now.

Edit: Looks like the BR Trot is a go.

I threw caution to the wind yesterday and chose not to miss my workout of 5 x 8:00 min intervals in lieu of being fresh for the TT. Due to time constraints I was only able to get 4 in at about a 6:50 avg. I have no clue what to expect tomorrow am other than alotta pain and discomfort. So, typical 5K stuff. Would be stoked to notch another sub 20:00 under my belt, but not holding out hope for that. Weather looks like sticky shite.

I remember the days of crisp and cool thanksgiving runs. Enjoyed a nice 100% humidity run this morning though. Really need those temps to drop permanently.

Agreed. Finished the Trot in 19:53. OK with it I guess, 36 after a rough tempo workout and in the middle of a Marathon block. Monday should start the great weather.

Yeah, like 15 different waves. I talked to the RD (same one for La. Marathon and MCG) and he said he’s within Phase 2 protocol and unless the Mayor’s office or LDH ride by and see something they don’t like, La. should be a go.

Nice race. I finished mine in 20:08. A little disappointed but my training has been inconsistent lately.

No races today so the Track Club had a get together. Out and back on the Lakeshore Trail for 6 miles. Everyone paced harder this AM than normal. 8:45/mile. Maybe it was the cool temps or flat track?

I ran the virtual Peachtree Roadrace 10k today. It was moved from 7/4 to Thanksgiving and then to a virtual race. Slow but steady 1:06.

Some strong work on here this morning. I managed to get in a Covid turkey trot then induce a food coma. A good day indeed.

Ran a local 5K today. 8/min miles. Struggled starting mile 2. I probably shouldn’t have run as hard as I did yesterday. First 5K ever that got stopped by a train. I was fortunate to get in ahead of the train. I did get caught by a traffic stop. Still managed a top 6. Slowed up at the end to let a little girl finish a head of me.

Did a little 6 mile progression up to marathon pace. Feel pretty much recovered from the race
