Roots,

Negative, nothing more than a thumbs up on the first turn-around.

gsadle5,

That was a good learning experience for me too.

I hit every aid station , slowed to actually get the hydration and I was able to get back on my mile pace within a minute or so without sprinting.

When I saw better runners than me cramping & sitting to stretch on the back end I decided this was an investment I have to make moving forward.

Are you running the Village 2 Village 10k in March?

I paid for this race last year and they cancelled it. So, I should be able to run it for ‘free’. That’s if they run it at all. The Wine 10K will be close to the same time and it will run for sure. Homewood has been allowing races and that’s where that one is held. 52 mins is a great time. My fastest so far is 53 mins, but I think I’m WAY older than you.

Statue to Statue is my target race now. I’m gonna start goading and challenging the Fitness Board into coming to Bham for that race. Bunch of damn flatlanders need some elevation to bring them to reality!

I paid for last years as well (was going to run it with no prep and have it be my first 10k run) and have been opted into this years race. Check the site and see if you're registered. If not just contact the administrator and they will probably sign you up. Might as well get the free t shirt and swag bag if you paid. And assuming the '96' in your username is the year you graduated Auburn and not your birth year, you're correct on the age difference.

Statue to Statue is intriguing. Might as well run it too since I'm prepping for the V2V just a month earlier.

I am planning on running the half. I think it’s 2 weeks after the WAT half so I’m not counting on being too competitive.

Maybe we can carpool since you live like 2 streets over.

The full is on that Sunday and I already took that Monday off work. Lol.

I need to catch up with you on some of y’all’s weekend runs. I’ve been lacking motivation lately.

Nailed it. I’ll check the site and see. I’ll run it for sure if they carry it over.

1999, I hope to be posting early and often about the race. I’d love to get a big group of us to go. My track club put it on and there will be some serious runners there.

Sounds good. I'll give ya a shout. Been going on some longish road runs on Saturday and usually 8-10ish on trails on Sundays. I'm having to get out of my comfort zone to get ready for my first marathon. I'm a little nervous about it to be honest. Worried I may just crash at around 20 miles

I’m registered for La., and am too scared shitless. I ran 18 this past Sat (most on the actual course), and 18 the Sat before. Without looking, I think I have 1 more 18, 2 20s and a 22 left before taper. My legs are fried after this last 18, as I was near MP for the bulk of it. (8:10-8:15)... Not by choice but I was running with a group and got sucked in.

Damn . Sounds like you have a good plan going. I ran a half over the weekend with a group and pushed it a little more than I wanted to. Are you on strava ?

Nice. I can’t imagine a race in Kansas in the middle of January. Good luck, gents. Seems like a lifetime ago that I last raced a marathon now.

Thanks man; just trying to follow the plan along with daily life and a 2 year old. Are you planning to come in a day or so early and hit the Expo? Maybe we can hook up for a shakeout or something. I only live about 30 mins away. Other than not to die, what pace are you shooting for?
