So Sunday went for a 60 minute slow run, started off and my knees were killing me. Sharp pain for about 5 minutes and just had no “response” or “bounce”. Pushed through and was okay after about 5 minutes. Then about 15 minutes into my run, my left calf felt like it was swollen and on fire. Ended up cutting run short after about 30 minutes.

Yesterday same thing happened on a 30min recovery run, was able to push through both issues but still had not much “bounce” in my legs like I’m used to. Think I’m going to take today off and get back on schedule Thursday.

Handful of years behind you, but glad to hear it from somebody else than me telling this to myself!

I'm still fortunate to not have any major physical issues or injuries. I've been dealing more with Achilles tendinitis and piriformis syndrome the past couple of years. I tried taking some time off, but it only seemed to help temporarily. I've come to the conclusion that these are just things my aging body is going to have to tolerate. Neither issue impairs my running. They just hurt after standing for a long time or first thing in the morning. I can deal with that. What I can't deal with is losing my fitness and constantly starting over. I'm pushing through!

I'm feeling pumped right now. Went out for a run with no goal. Weather is crap; rain and 42°. At about mile four of five I decide to tackle one of the big hills with a Strava segment. Stats are 0.47mi, 104ft elevation, 4.1% grade. Best I've ever done was 4:04/8:34 pace. It also has two streets where cross traffic does not have a stop.

Today I said screw it and go full out. 3:35/7:35 pace and grabbed that crown. 16 seconds faster than 2nd place.

McVick,

Happy for you but not surprised, you have had some strong runs in the last month or so , including your speed work !

Good job, dude!

Workout today wasn’t anything sexy; 8 mile tempo. 3 and some change up and down.

we all knew it was coming...BAA just announced boston marathon is going to be rescheduled to the fall.

qualification is going to be a mess from here on out. I plan to run a BQ in December, but I have no idea if and when BAA will ever accept it.

That sucks because it means that all of the US majors will be in the fall. With New York dragging their feet on the year that deferrals will run, there will be a lot of folks that won’t make it either because of scheduling issues. I wanted to run Chicago next fall, New York is preventing me from signing up.

the big potential cluster will be the fallout from combining two years of qualifying times to make one field. Don't be real close to you age group standard because they will probably have to shave a couple minutes off. 3:10 for 40-44 age group may be 3:07. People who were qualified for 2020 may get bumped by those who ran during 2020 albeit there weren't that many events.

A lot of people will be repeat qualifiers too so I don’t think it will be that big of a deal

Damnit I forgot. And I changed phones so my reminders weren’t setup

I’m mad at myself. Only a 14 left.

Yikes, sorry bud. I snagged a second pair because that color way is hot! Still feel like an a-hole for buying them tho.

I did long repeats today on a loop that was perfectly set up to easily get two CR on Strava. I had a good run and expectantly uploaded my run, but I immediately saw that I ran the loop in the wrong direction.
