Shoes are advancing at a pretty good rate these days. You used to be able to wear a shoe for 400 miles, get a new pair, and not notice much, if any difference.

Am I the only one rotating shoes? I'm currently alternating between Brooks PureFlow, Saucony Kinvara, and Altra Torin. My favorites are the Saucony and use those exclusively on my long run days.

I rotate early and often
Hoka Rincon for daily and long runs
Nike Zoom Fly SP and Brooks Hyperion Tempo for workouts
Nike Zoom Fly FK for racing
New Balance Summit Unknown for trails and bc they were cheap.

Crapped out on my hill route tonight. Not sure what the issue was, but the heat and humidity finally got to me. First time all summer. Felt light headed and a bit dizzy. Stopped and walked for a bit and drank water. Did an easy final mile to wrap it up at 5 miles and some ice cold beers. 5 miles @ 10/mile with 500ft elevation.

I love the Adidas Boston. Have probably gone through 3 iterations of this shoe. Is there anything else similar to it? Wouldn’t mind trying something different.

Didn't you compare the material and durability to that of something purchased at Wal-Mart?

That was the vapor fly and yes. Same shoe; has 63 miles on it. Alpha seems more durable, but that purchase was more of spite purchase. I’ve been very successfully marketed to by the alpha pushers... you know, can’t be left behind and ruling out what ifs.

That's a pretty race-specific workout. If you are in the latter stages of your training cycle (within 8 weeks of your target race), then you should be prepared for that type of workout, assuming that you have been doing shorter, faster intervals and some tempo runs (15-30 minute tempo sections) for several weeks prior as part of your program. However, paces faster than your target race pace should typically be used for shorter intervals.
I would either slow down your pace to half-marathon pace for the 2-mile interval and 10K pace for the 1-mile intervals or swap up the order. For example, 4X2K @ current 10K pace (from last race) with 1-minute jogging recoveries then 1 X 1-Mile @ current 3K-5K pace would be an optimal race-specific workout for the 10K, ideally for use in the sharpening phase of training. I think you would be able to keep you HR down better that way for your longer intervals and still have enough in the tank to finish up strong for that last prefatigued speed interval.
That's just my suggestion, though. If you are able to finish that workout hitting all your target paces, then you know you are on track for your target race time.

Rotating shoes is good. I would do if I could. There is no way I would be able to convince my wife that I need 4 pairs of 100-dollar shoes at once though.

Yeah, I think they've marketed these better than anyone else.
My rotation right now is:
Easy - Pegasus 37
Speed/Tempo - Endorphine Speed or New Balance Fuel Cell TC
Long - Zoom Fly 3
Race - Vaporfly 4% or Next%

I haven’t found one similar yet. Burt was the one who turned me onto them

Had my first 5K race of the year today (thanks, Covid).
Finished at 24:35.
The entire field was a bit slower than the same race last year for obvious reasons.

How are other race organizers trying to find creative ways to put on an event?
Cactus Rose 150/100/50 is running on the standard course but they have staggered start times beginning on Friday morning. My understanding, there are 6 runners in a start group, you can only access the race packet pickup area 30 mins before your start slot, and then runners will go out one at a time during their designated start window. Runners are required to have a face covering with them and have to wear it in aid stations and when running with other runners on the course. You also have to carry your own pen for signing in & out at aid stations. This was already a race with minimal aid support (stations typically are unmanned with only ice & water but I think they may have done a bit more in recent years) so there aren't a lot of extra people out on the course.

25 miles you shouldn't be feeling foot pain but everyday is different. the good thing with 100 milers is you have plenty of time/miles for things to get better. Mile 50 you may feel great again only to have that feeling do a 180 on you 2 miles later. Yes you have to physically build up your body/feet to handle the miles but there is also a huge mental game that you have to figure out as well.
Be prepared with a couple pairs of shoes on race day. maybe have one pair a half size bigger to wear the last 20 miles if your feet hurt and swell. have the ability to change socks if they are getting wet or run through sand/grit. that will get in your socks and rub your feet.
Just don't forget that if you take off a pair of shoes late in a race then you still need to be able to put the new pair on! I typically run in the same shoes for the entire race but once tried to change shoes late and then couldn't get the new pair on b/c I kept cramping up every time I bent over to try This is when it is helpful to have a crew.

Put in 12 miles with the group today at a 9:25 pace. Weather was good. It was nice to not lug a water bottle around today. I can’t wait for cooler weather.

I wonder how well the face covering thing worked out
I carried a mask made for running with me on a couple of trails last week. Since it was humid, I had trouble keeping it somewhere accessible without it getting soaked with sweat. Was 1. Almost impossible to use if I was actually exerting myself and 2. Probably just ended up venting out of the sides
