Congrats! I should have applied, but completely forgot with everything going on. Looks like my next marathon will be Houston in January unless I find something else before then. At least I can focus on prepping for a half Iron Man.

Kballa6..

I'm actually using your Chicago to Houston experience and trying to "learn" at the MCM & improve at the Woodlands in March.

I have a free race entry for Houston because of an injury deferral so I'll plug in a 5K, 10K or half based on where it falls into my plan.

Apparently I missed the deadline to sign up for Chicago. Didn’t realize when I deferred that I would need to re-register.

We gotta award prizes or finisher medals though.

And someone else has to pay for them.

i hate to pop in here... but as the strava founder (who never posts anymore, but i do run still i promise...)

and my parents also own an awards and trophy shop, i should probably volunteer.

i'm not volunteering. but i probably should.

I can’t figure out how to upload my runs from Garmin Connect to Strava. Maybe it’s not available on my watch (Forerunner 35). Anyone have any clue?

Four miles in 34:11 (8:33/pace).

should I make a thread about the virtual 5k/10k or just keep it in here?

should I invite the OT?

maybe we can convince Chicken to send the winners the coveted TD koozies

Haha..the OT ..according to their bravado, BRM, HogBody, and Roots better just skip this to save face

We could find that guy that lied to the girl about being a runner and gutted out that 5K ...she would love this for sure haha

I'd love to see some of them throw their name in the ring !

If you post it to the OT then we'll have someone claim a 3:50/mile pace on race day. Like playing in a golf scramble with a bunch of guys you only kinda know and every group shoots -2 or better on every hole.

I connected. Not sure when it will start uploading. Once it does, I'll join the TD.com group and dust you fools*.

Once you've uploaded it in settings/third party/partner apps it should do its thing on its own. I leave my phone when I run but once I get back I stop my activity and then save. By the time I walk inside and grab my phone I usually have a Strava notification saying "my run is ready to view ". Most of the time my runs load up quicker on Strava than they do on Garmin connect.

It will automatically upload data that you have synched with Garmin connect to any other app or site you have selected.

I wonder how many people would be legit truthful in their time reporting. I do think you'd get more bites with a 5K though.

I know there are for sure two legit quick folks on the OT. Pedro, I believe would be or was the quickest but I think I could give him a run for his money. Right now, I'm in 16:15-16:22 5K shape. Last time he checked in I think he did a mid 22s 6K but I know he's put up mid 16s last year.

Anyhow, I've pulled back my speed workouts and will attempt a quick half this Sunday then it's into summer base building beast mode.

There’s a group in NYC called Orchard Street Runners and they’re doing virtual races of every distance right now. Had two dudes do sub 17 hour 100 milers. Have had multiple people under 4 minute miles because you can run any course and they’re running 300 plus feet downhill

Dang. The race I was looking at for the first week of June has already been cancelled.

Yup, basically every race through summer is cancelled or delayed. Still a good opportunity to train and meet some personal goals. I don't think anyone should plan on racing anything other virtually for the rest of the year.

Got my MRI today. Doc said results tomorrow or Monday for the foot. Hoping to only have to take a few weeks off. Get back at it in May and start base building again. I’ll start marathon training in late June and will plan on running it virtually if necessary just to get an idea of what it will be like for whenever it’s run since I agree with you Burt, it’s unlikely anything will be run the rest of the year.

I’ll be happy to report whatever Strava says it is. No idea what my 5k time would be these days. Would be thrilled to be under 19:00.
