I’m just beginning my training cycle. I won’t be ready to race for 5 or 6 weeks, but I think it’s a great idea.

I used to ride, but my bike has been gathering dust since I got married. Along with the one that my now wife wanted that’s been ridden a total of maybe 10 times in 4 years.

I’m probably going to sell my road bike and buy something that she and I can ride together with the children.

How about we all bike and Burt runs. About the only way we are going to beat him.

Sounds fair to me, but only if I get to drive a golf cart.

Seriously though, I think it's a good idea. Be something we could look forward to since the spring racing season is cancelled.

We gotta award prizes or finisher medals though.

And they have to be tacky and inappropriate.

And someone else has to pay for them.

Most of us have a bag of old mardi gras beads and doubloons somewhere. Chicken can afford to pay for shipping.

Easy five in 42:52 (8:32/mile pace). Still not as fast as I was a while back. I have Four miles tomorrow at the beginning of my 100 miles in April challenge.

I gotta tell y’all, this was the windiest sunny day I can remember. Pretty much swirling gusts in the 20 mph range my whole run. At least it wasn’t blowing in my face the whole time (#giggity) ( ).

6 miles again today

11:47 pace

Definitely expected the heart rate to go into zone 4 for most of it and it did.

But it didn’t feel exhausting at all when I finished

Next run will slow it back down

Good news from the lottery, I'm in the Marine Corps Marathon.

Training plan starts June 15th which gives me 10 more weeks to prepare for the first Hal Higdon training run.

Congratulations! Stay as close to the start/finish line as possible, and actually practice your route to the start before the morning of the race.

Not going to lie, I'm a bit jealous of this year's medal. I don't run for them but to have one made with black sand from Iwo Jima is a memorable thing to have.

McVick,

Thanks for the advice man + making me relax about the lottery #'s.

This will be my 1st so I'll take your advice + make many mistakes to learn from. I'm still pissed about having to miss the Houston Full in January but that is life and the rear view mirror.

For the next 10 weeks, I'll set three micro goals:

Get down to 179 for day #1 of Hal Higdon

Get under 1:30 for 400 meters

Beat my 8 mile time from week #1 of my last training program
