12 miles this morning. Tried to slow my pace so I could run as much as I could without stopping. Had serious Achilles inflammation though and ended up stopping to walk or rest every 2 miles.

Finished with an 11:30 pace. I think when I was running, I was at a 10:15 pace but all the breaks killed my time.

Oh well. Got 12 total and 27 for the week.

Ran 12 miles at 9:14. Slightly slower and shorter than my pre-run goal, but always a good day when you can get that mileage in without injury.

It’s the lone pretty thing in Killeen. I appreciate our servicemen there but it’s an ugly place. I live in Temple about 20 miles from there.

I can do some trail pics porn if wanted. I’m pretty big on documenting my travels.

You get some nice scenery to run, whereas I ran inside a gym today. We had like 48 hours of "Cooler" weather in the middle of the week here, but it's gone right back up to too damn hot. Perhaps, though, I could have run at sunrise. It was OK here at that time, but by 8:30 it was too hot.

Hopped in the Twilight 5K this evening in BR. 24:30. Was hoping for 24:00, but will take it as the first race of the season.

My brother had issues while IM training. He did some PT stuff and fixed it. I'll ask him. Sucks.

I’ve had calf tightness and Achilles soreness since I started running a year ago. Today was the first day it’s actually made me worried. It usually is just tight for 2-3 miles then feels fine. Today was legit pain for the entire run.

I’ve read about doing heel drops and calf raises. I’m going to try icing it twice a day and doing the exercises. Luckily this week is a bit of a break in my training plan.

Week 3 of my half marathon training is complete. 24 miles for the week with today being the long run (8 miles). I kept an 8:34 pace which is a lot faster than I anticipated.

Hello all. Thought I'd check in and find some camaraderie here and check out what other runners were doing since it's mostly bikists where I live.

Used to run in high school and a year in college before I took a break to drink and smoke for a decade. Got back into it in November and am about 40 miles a week now.

Goals: 60 miles a week. 18 min 5k.

5K in two weeks, 15K in a month, marathon in 2.5 months.

Weekly training includes long, tempo, and intervals.

TLDR

Just looking to connect with other runners and maybe pick up some advice along the way.

Edit: 11.5 in 1:33 LSD

6 miles yesterday. Woke up at 5am to run and my pace showed. Was at 9:05, want to start getting up for early for my longer runs. First time had me sluggish.

Going to just do some light weights today.

For those of you that remember your first half marathon, what were some of your time goals? What did you finish in?

1st half was two years ago at age 43. Goal was 8:00. I followed my training plan to the mile and ran it at 7:50 (ran with the 8:00 pacer until the 10 mile mark and then realized I had plenty of energy to speed up for the last 5k.

Tough age group for a lot of events. I'll be in it, in a little over a year. The guy who won my age group in that steep 15k trail run was 48 and was in or near top 20 overall.

Good work!
