Thanks. Yes, very competitive group. The only reason I placed was because the fastest guy in my age group won 1st place masters so he didn't count in the age group category.

Ran the Comite trail yesterday. Did 3 laps. Took much longer than I anticipated. Highly recommend to anyone looking for some trail running practice.
Went through 2L water, 500ml Gatorade mix, 1 GU, 1 orange and 2 waffles with syrup. I needed more fluid and more food, maybe some salty stuff.

The course is somewhat technical but not near as technical as the Beast in St. Francisville. Lots of roots and can be somewhat confusing. Check the map at the entrance and you will know what I mean.

#trusttheprocess

I still haven’t got a proper long run in yet. Something always keeps coming up, which of course provides a convenient excuse to skip.

I might have to sign up for a half in Oct or Nov to keep me honest.

Really sore from yesterday, did not expect that. Traps and calves both feel it

I woke up this morning and thought, "Nah."

I've pushed it pretty hard the past month. My weekly totals have gone like this:

Week 1: 16

Week 2: 17

Week 3: 21

Week 4: 13

Week 5: 26

Week 6: 27

My body feels a bit beat up. Took today off to rest. Might even take tomorrow off to rest. My long run this week is shorter (9 miles), so I'm thinking my training plan is treating this week as a recovery week anyway. Hopefully I feel motivated to get back to it tomorrow or Wednesday.

Missed my morning run because I was tired, lazy, or both. Paid for it by running in the late afternoon heat.

Did 50 minutes on the bike today. If afternoon rain stays likely the rest of the week it'll probably keep me inside

Got a 2 miler in this morning. I thought I was going to quit marathon training the first 1/2 mile into it. Not sure what happened to my motivation the past few days, but something oozed in my brain making me want to go back to being lazy.

Feel GREAT though now that I completed the short run! Bring on the Wednesday mountain!

This morning was rough for me too, very sluggish 3 miles

Haven’t felt the same since being sick last week where I only ran my long runs. Weather isn’t helping much

If you’re in NWA I feel ya. I’m going to be in the gym today for interval work. My body just doesn’t want to do this weather anymore after the cool break we had. Speedwork outside during the day has become dangerous up here because of the heat.

Treadmill 1% incline
2mi warmup
25 min @ 7.5mph jog - 10.5mph alternating minutes
1mi cool down.

Nice pictures. I'm ready for the weather to break so I can get back out to Red Rock more often. What type of trail shoes are you running in? I'm mostly street but want to do more trails this fall.

Did 4.50 miles this morning @ 8.35 pace. Weather was nice this morning.

Ain't that the truth, it's like time is standing still waiting for fall weather. That said, about to head out for a mid day 3.5. 99 feels like/76 dewpoint.

Currently in Asics Venture 6 or Saucony Marauders. Sauconys are a good $30 shoe I keep in the back of the car for traveling.

The ASICS are very entry level shoes but I’ve had no major complaints. Stiff, stable, and durable but no lace lock.

I’ll probably be trading them out for some nicer ones this fall as I come up on trail racing season. Looking at Altra Lone Peaks or NB Vazees.

ETA: I loved Red Rock. Seems like a hike/trail run/biking paradise.

Only had time for a 3 mile “hike” because my wife is with me but next time I’m there I’m going to try and hit 2 or 3 trails at minimum.
