I have a foam roller and will do it if I have time. But after a long run, I get lazy and never want to do it. Also have some lacrosse balls and rock floss, but rarely use any of it.

Now the chrio I go to has Normatec air compression boots and I can use them while waiting. Those things are awesome and I would definitely use them every night in bed if I had a pair. After a long run, they really help flush out the lactic acid. I don't know how much performance benefit there is, but my legs feel better on days I get to use them. But at 1200 bucks for a pair, it's not something I can get personally. Even the knock off brand is like 400 for the set.

I always roll after a long run.

And a lacrosse ball is the best $3 investment anyone can make.

11 miles

Felt great with the considerably lower humidity today. Like I'd been running with weights on all through summer and I was finally able to take them off.

So I just finished 9.5 out at the Metairie lakefront and it was frustrating AF. I averaged a pace I had not seen in years.(that's not a good thing).I can't tell if this making me a better runner or just better at suffering.

Still recovering from illness yesterday, gonnna have to skip the 6 miles today. Have no energy...probably slept 30 out of the last 34 hours

I’ve been fighting crud for over a week now. Body just can’t seem to get right. I’m still getting some low mileage in but the heat and no energy is just killing me right now.

And there are 3 too many running thread posters posting on the Mollie thread on the poliboard.

Strannix kills. Me. Dude is a legit white supremacist I think.

That being said, you do get some lumps over there but stick it out. most of them are idiots. I say that as an extreme right winger.

6 miles. Big hills. Great run. But I got my first scare as a runner this morning. Copy and pasting from what I put on the OT thread about running:

I got bumped by a car this morning...sort of. There was a cross walk that's designed for kids to walk to school through a neighborhood and I was crossing it as a truck was approaching. There's also a stop sign right there and a big sign that says pedestrian/school crossing.

I thought he was stopping but realized quickly that he was "California stopping" the stop sign. I jumped forward, twist turned, and pushed off the side of his hood. He slammed on the brakes and looked up shocked while holding his fricking iPhone flat in his hand like it was a goddamn hors d'oeuvre.

It was really close to being bad. I mean, it was a big arse truck and even a little nudge would have knocked me over. I supposed I didn't need to hit his hood, but I was pretty damn pissed.

I've been avoiding long runs on weekends. Did some plyometric work yesteday and hit the garage this morning.

96% humidity and 82 degrees. Feels like 93 at 5am. Add in a parking garage with no breeze, I might as well have been in a suana running.

1.5mile warmup

sprint 75" up back down turn around to bottom and 30" back up and then down rest 30"
x6

Sprint 45" up then back down rest 30"
x9

cool down.

The heat is just zapping me.

I’ve been clipped by some trucks with big side mirrors. Usually it’s just them not giving me space, which I’m fine with for the most part.

I don’t care what the law says, a 1 ton vehicle gets the right way over a pedestrian, but crossing a street like that, a car needs to be watching. I’m starting to have a special place of hate in my heart for drivers that HAVE to talk in the car.

I use to hit that deliciously painful trigger point in front part of hips, w a foam roller w PVC core or a softball. I could feel it from toes to skull. Some combo of that and fixing my form and shoes eliminated horrible IT band issues.

I stopped rolling awhile back, I don't stretch any more, and I'm adding miles, but I haven't seen a difference in pain or performance. Our bodies are so weird.

I just got a clean bill o health from oncologist and it's oddly fall-like in Atlanta. I think I'm going to go for a long slow one in the sun.

May turn it up along the Winship 5k course I need to master for mid-Oct. Too hilly for anything close to a PR. My goal is to finish first among cancer survivors. Lol. But true. I was second last year. I can probably get near top of age group too.

I've been in my neighborhood almost 20 years, and it used to be incredibly quiet and peaceful at all times. Then waze and such came along, and it's a rush-hour cut through. About 75% of drivers I see are looking down at phone and speeding down hills, blowing through stop signs. Thank God Atlanta has such great trails and paths.

I try to just accept this traffic change but can't. We are working hard to make Montana full time. Hard.

I’d say it’s about the same here. I only use voice text in the car and Bluetooth for phone calls. Anything else is just playing with somebody else’s life.

These people that hold their phones like a tray on speaker think they’re doing the world a service but they still stare at their phone the whole time.

We have about 15 miles of concrete trails on the west part of our town that I run at mostly. My wife asks why I drive to run and I’ve just been too close for comfort too many times to jack around with anything else. I’ll do some neighborhoods if it’s light enough, but other than that I avoid streets at all costs.
