A GPS watch hasn’t directly made me faster, but I’m probably more engaged with it logging info automatically than I would be otherwise, causing me to run more and indirectly getting faster.

Anyone running a 10k in Nov/Dec? If so, which one? I'm not really interested in running the Fall Classic since it's a week after my next 1/2.

I am not. There is a 10K in Gulfport on 12/14 and in Bay St. Louis on 12/20 (I think).

My gf and I are going to do the Veterans 10k November 9th. First inaugural race put on by the WW2 Museum, starts in the CBD and makes a loop through Irish Channel/Uptown area back to the CBD. Seems like it could be a good race for a good cause.
Also planning to do the Turkey Trot.

There is half the next day I was thinking about running. I’ve set myself a goal to run one for the first time but have yet to sign up for one. Anyone ever run this one? I’m thinking it should be pretty flat.

Looked at that one but opting to make a road trip to Memphis for the St Jude half instead. Will be my first half too.

I’m running in the Gulfport half. It will be flat. It will be my first half marathon and first organized race. I am very excited.
I can post my training schedule leading up to the race if you want.

Do you have an goal time?
Posted on 9/26/19 at 11:44 am to Black n Gold
Not quite. I started running in April and did the CCC right off the bat. This will be my second official 10k. Running with my gf so I’d assume we’ll be shooting for avg pace between 8:30 and 9:00/mile. We aren’t very fast lol.

m I crazy for trying to run a 15K on 10/26, half in mid-December, half In early February, half in mid-March, and 10K in April. Is that too much? Or can I just keep the train rolling?
Not crazy and if you're healthy and have the time for it, why not? This is what my Fall/Spring last year looked like.
Races:
13.1 X 4 (10/21/18 - 01:56:05, 10/27/18 - 01:52:31, 11/17/18 - 01:49:30, 1/20/19 - 01:41:20)
10 Mile X 1 (11/10/18 - 01:25:56) Bleh - windy mess
15K X 1 (2/16/19 - 01:08:40)
10K X 2 (12/02/18 - 45:55, 04/20/19 - 41:03)
5K X 3 (08/25/18 - 24:50, 03/16/19 - 19:16, 05/25/19 - 19:27)
Would my times have been faster if I hadn't raced so often? Maybe, but oh well. I race any time I have the chance to.
I'll be doing the Vets race if I can swing it with work.

I'm not particularly fast either, and this race will be two weeks after a 1/2 I am going to try and run pretty hard. Probably won't have much left in the tank, so we might end up running closer than you think. Are you in our Strava group by any chance?

How long do running shoes typically last for you guys? I run 3-4x a week and I feel like my pair of Brooks I bought in April may be hurting my feet.

Sure am. Think I’m the only Jordan in the group lol. More the merrier IMO, you and anyone else in here more than welcome to link up for the race. Maybe we can get it posted to the events in the group?

Maybe somewhere around 6-9 months, depending on your mileage? You can go by feel, but I tend to buy a new pair around 300-350 miles. I'm going through them much faster now with marathon training.
My most recently retired pair of shoes started to wear down in the front part of the tread (basically at the tips of the toes), so that's when I decided it was time.

I second that. If I can get 300 out of em I will, but I've been known to trash a pair before 100 if they don't feel right. A good pair of shoes will def help keep you free from injuries.

Working on a 5K PR. I'm in week 10 of a 16-week program, currently. I plan to race in November.
This week's goal volume is 52 miles.
M: 5K test to set current training paces
Tu: 7-mile easy run with 8 X 12-second hill sprints
W: 2 Mi warm-up; 12 X 400m repeats @ 5K Pace with 2-minute jogging recoveries; 2 Mi cool down.
This morning: 7-Mile Recovery Run
Tomorrow: 10-Mile Easy Run
S: 2-Mile WU; 2 X 15-Minutes at 1/2 Marathon Pace w/ 2-Minute recovery interval; 2-Mile CD
Su: 12-Mile Progression Run (last 20 minutes at moderate pace)
I'm also doing weight training in the evenings. I took a week off from that while adjusting to keto.
