Will use Daniels this go round as it’s pretty flexible and best for my schedule, especially when/if I decide to do a Full.

Jazz Half in October. 01:30:00

It's the same day as LSU/AU and it was either out of Jazz or Northshore Half, which is the next day (Sunday). Figured I'd get the race out of the way before the game. Will likely be in no shape to run the Sunday after Auburn.

BlackNGold from this thread is getting in it also with the same goal. You should hop in.

Anticipation for this new Garmin is killing me. 2 delivery drivers have been here today (both for my wife). Already set up my Garmin Connect account, looking around Garmin IQ, etc. Gave my Polar to my brother yesterday, so that's that.

Well I’ll be damned there is a 5 mile trail race in Sedona this Sunday while we’re there. “Red Rock Rumble Trail Run” Starts at 7:00, our flight home from PHX is at 2:05. I was looking at the local running shop and apparently they put it on. Hmmmm

I can count on one hand how many times I’ve done any trail running (thanks Baton Rouge). And 5K feet of gain? Not even sure how to approach that and if I’m capable, lmao.

Possible, I ran that one 2 years ago as my first half. Also I think that's the time I want to shoot for at my next half anyway.

I swear that the Northshore Half organizers look at the LSU schedule and pick the best home game in October then schedule the race for the next morning. That's one of my favorite half marathons, but I keep passing on it because it always falls the morning after an LSU home game.

That sounds like a pretty disgusting time now that I think about it.

I agree. Love the race/course. Would be my choice if I could only do one annually. But like you mentioned, the scheduling is shitty.

Can we make it a fun run? Maybe get drunk first? Easier to brush off a disappointing time that way.

I would venture to say that your time this past weekend was more in line with a 1:30:00 half than anything I've ran lately. I'm also going to be putting in a ton more slow runs from now until the end of summer. Far fewer fast days for me.

I'm easy, I'll be satisfied if you can manage to break the bank and actually sign up and do a race.

Same here, so I'm probably in better shape now than I'll be in October. Not sure I'm willing to melt into the pavement doing mile repeats weekly in the Summer.

I forgot to mention that one of the things I decided to do for Lent was to run at least 3 miles a day. Yesterday marked 47 days in a row. Total mileage was 227. Lost 17 pounds since Ash Wednesday (I also started eating a lot better as well).

I'll probably go for a run today. Not sure how long to keep the streak going, but the OCD in me wants to get it to an even 50 days for sure.

I figured you were fulfilling some type of self-challenge looking at your Strava runs. That's an impressive streak. Nice weight loss as well.

I weighed in this weekend at 145lb. Weighed 146lb this time last year, which was over a thousand miles ago. If I stopped running today, I would way 146lbs a year from now.

Thanks. It's really easy for me to get out of the habit of running if I don't have some sort of motivation. The streak forced me to find time in my day to get it done. Now I'm at the point where I don't want to take a rest day. Maybe I should run really easy. But I hate doing that.

Went balls out on a .5 mile downhill Strava segment tonight and paced about a 5:40. Still got second by almost 20 seconds.

Also mangaged to jack up my hip in the process.

Eff getting old.

If I stopped running I would gain 15 lbs with the quickness even with a good diet.

My entire family is morbidly obese (not exaggerating) so I’m fighting genetics every day. Y’all have seen the picture of me 15 years ago so you know my motivation.

Checking back into this thread. I’ve gained a whole bunch of weight over the last year, half arse trained for the WDW and finished with a personal worse of 6:15:00 ish. That’s +2:15:00 slower than my previous PW. Time to stop being a fat arse and start over. Did day one of C25K tonight and will weigh in tomorrow to see just how bad the weight gain is.
Should I skip week one of C25K? It was way to easy?

No one has any beginner marathon/half marathon training program recommendations? Killing me, smalls.

I’ve found Higdon stuff online. May as well try his stuff.

Tornado,

I'm the newest & least experienced runner here. My neighbor and I essentially went from nothing cardio wise to a half marathon with a very simple and easy 12 week plan from halfmarathons.net

After 2 or so races you have to trash the plan because it becomes easy and ineffective but was a great and injury free way to start.

I went from 1st run in September, 1st half at 2:37 to under two recently on number 4.
