Ran my 10k at 45:04

I was running a great pace until aboug mile 4 when I started struggling. Going up that damn north Blvd bridge was the nail in the coffin. I gave it everything I had the last 0.2, but it just barely wasn't enough.

Might submit my time anyway and see if they let me into the group c division for CCC just because they feel bad for me.

“10” mile trail race for me this morning in 1:48:51

They changed the course this year to “really maximize the hills”. I wish I could find the elevation gain for this race. It was brutal. I’m willing to bet it would among the highest in LA.

Also the course was actually somewhere between 12.2 and 12.4 miles. NOT 10 miles. Really messed me up. Didn’t know how to run those last few miles because I didn’t know where the finish was.

Oh well. Fun race overall and satisfied with my time considering the mileage issue and I had stomach issues early on.

I’m in north LA. We have some hills up here.

The course basically just followed a deep creek bottom and we just zigzagged back and forth, up and down it for 12 miles.

And then the last 0.5 was a big climb to the finish where most people knee walked because it was so steep.

That can make a race go bad in a hurry.

Looking ahead, my mileage will likely take a dip this coming week, due to work/family/life, but gonna transition into more weekly speed work catered to the 5K.

Signed up for the Wearing of the Green 5K on 3/16 in BR. Not sure what my goal is, but would love to sniff 20:00. That seems awfully fast for me though. Guess I'll see how the speedwork goes these next few weeks. I feel like my lungs are there, but getting my legs to turn over that fast is what I question.

No significant knee pain from yesterday's race, but still going to go to the Ortho on Friday. I'd like to get an MRI and compare it to one that I got a few years ago to see what's changed.

Good luck on the MRI. As far as the board is concerned, just do 200 meter sprints every day and you’ll become a world beater in the 5k because the 5k is just a little bit longer sprint.

That’s some army PT nonsense right there. Anyhow, like I said, I hope everything ends up okay.

In other news, Strava is down, again. It ain’t Sunday unless Strava is shitting the bed.

It was glitchy as fuc yesterday too. That pisses me off more than it probably should... especially after a race.

Thanks man. One way or the other it will. I just need to get in front of a Sports Med Dr. rather than Dr. Google.

I hear ya, but Dr. Google takes my insurance.

Watching the rerun of the London indoors. No spoilers please ya'll.

Anywho, did a 2 hour long one this morning slow. Felt great for the first time this week. Hip was bothering me yesterday but I switched over to my OG Zoom Flys and was fine.

Think I may have to retire the razors even earlier because that small defect in the left heel might be dicking my hip up.

Just finished my first half (austin half marathon) in 2:05, which is ok I suppose. I didn’t really train other than running a 10k last weekend. There was some brutal uphill that slows you down but overall it wasn’t too bad from a cardio standpoint at all, but my legs wanted to break off. The worst part though was forgetting headphones in the car. Thanks to those who gave me advice .

Good job, man. I hear that Austin race is pretty hilly at times.

Ran my first race headphone free yesterday and actually enjoyed it. I think I was motivated by hearing all of the heavy breathing around me and helped me keep mine controlled.
