I think I saw an ad for the white/red ones pop up today for $80.

I saw they had some Pegasus 35’s for $40 also. If they lower the black/black ones to that I’ll prolly grab em to put some training miles on.

5 miles today.

I coasted a lot of December and I’m trying pretty hard to keep miles under 8. Even if that means taking a few breaks in there. Last spring I had a 49 minute 5k and I’m not that close to there right now.

I've slacked big time the last week or 2. Life got in the way. Gotta get some miles back going this week.

Some experts are even saying that it takes longer than previously thought to lose fitness.

They seem to agree it comes back very a lot quicker than it took to build.

I thought this article was interesting.

Losing Running Fittness

I think you’ll be fine. Maybe you’re like me and can’t get out of your own head.

Theres no doubt about this. I peaked
in Swimming fitness beginning of last year. Took like 3 years to get there. I didn't do anything until about a month and a half ago and felt like dog shite in the pool. Swam with a masters group on Monday and in that short time I've already built back up to roughly the same speed and volume I was before the 7 month break. My top end isn't there yet, but I could do the workouts which was a shock. Bike fitness is heading in that direction too.

And I hate you guys for posting this zoom fly flyknits deal. I dont need those damned things but bought a pair anyway just to try out. Read I need to rotate different shoes more anyway to avoid injury. Im just afraid I like these, then decide to try the 4% which I have no business wasting money on . Here's to hoping I hate them .

i rotate religiously and very rarely have any angst. but i seriously have 10+ pairs of running shoes. it's kind of embarrassing.

Y’all are bad influences; I need to catch up! I’m scraping by with 4 pair in my current rotation.

i don't think i've lost any fitness, just haven't really pushed myself much in the last few months. Mileage has been fine, but it's been a bunch of 8+ miles. i'm a heavy set runner but i'm better than 5 miles at 8:15-8:30 pace.

if you've seen any crowns and trophies for me lately, it's because a friend and i have been trying a few segments together in certain areas (kids have 1.5-2 hour practices together.) He can fly and i've been either pacing him or getting a head start and having him try and run me down.

it's reminded me that i CAN be fast at some distance and i'm not going to get better adding more miles at 8 pace.

I went into my closet looking for my NB Minimus Trails for my race this Saturday, but I can't seem to find them

so if I can't locate them by Saturday, it looks like I'll be busting out my Brooks Cascadia 2s for this race

They have been out of service for 5+ years now...

I have quite a few pairs, but don't rotate all that much.

80% of my runs in Brooks Ghost for example (one newer pair and one older for nasty days)

Fast runs sometimes in Saucony Kinvara's
Fast runs sometimes in Altra One's
Trail/dirt road runs in New Balance FF Gobi's

It's not a ton of shoes, but I do have 5 pair. Anything over 6 miles, I defer to the Ghost though as I've had achilles issues any time I switched away from them. Can't win either way

I specially got my NB 1080s because my feet did not like ghosts for run over 6-8 miles. I was ready to throw them away after my first half marathon in them.

Well guys, I logged 10 miles today, which is the farthest I've ever run at once. The first 7.5 miles were at my HMGP, but those last 2.5 miles were rough. Had to add some walking in that last 2.5. I realized at mile 3 that I was still fasting, so I think lack of fuel got me at the end. And then at 260lbs, the feet and knees were really starting to feel the distance. Definitely have more work to do to get those last 3.1 miles in. Race isn't until beginning of March so I have time.

I'm using
Saucony Kinvara for daily trainers
Nike Pegasus Turbo for speed work
Nike Vaporfly 4% for races

I never thought I would ever run in Nikes, but the Peg Turbos and 4%s are just fantastic shoes. Best shoes I've ever run in and put in some times I haven't hit in years in the 4%s.
