Yeah I don’t mind it. I usually do something daily also.

If you dont mind saying, what is your tempo and VO2 pace hog? Curious as it would help us slower guys convert those times to suit us.

Here’s what Hanson’s says based off my marathon time

Quiet in here!
Added some lower body stuff to my Thursday lifts (just some various weighted and body weight lunges) and wow my hamstrings and glutes are sore today. Makes me realize how much running only neglects these muscles. Made today’s 4 miles pretty tough.

Man I was just thinking how I want to blast legs tomorrow at the gym, but don’t want it to affect my long run Sunday. I’m struggling where to fit a good leg day blast into my training and for it not to affect my runs. Not enough days in the week! It’s always the day of or day before a run. Does your coach have any advice?
I was glancing at some Marathon plans last night and took a look at Hansons. I don’t see any long run over 13-15 miles, unless I missed it. That no one run is more important than another. Anyone ever used the Hanson plan? I just briefly looked at it, so haven’t really dug deep into it or any others yet.

I’m going to ask him. I did it yesterday because I knew today’s run and tomorrow’s weren’t too bad before a tough one Sunday.
Nothing over 15 sounds like a terrible idea to me but idk?? I haven’t used their plan at all

My hamstrings feel like they're busting out of the back of my legs after my long runs. Only place I still experience soreness. I was going to start doing some strength training, but read where the Kenyans don't. That was good enough information for me to end that idea.

Ran 7 yesterday and 5 this morning. 17 total in the last 3 days. Trying to really up my mileage and do some races in the spring.
I was hit by a car about 18 months ago and struggle with some issues in my right hip. Usually really right after runs - sometimes sore. Any advice?

My Ironman training didn't have anything over ~15 miles (was really done by time, but that worked out to 15 miles for me). I can understand in that situation that there is so much other training that they don't want you to over do it. And also the other training benefits your endurance too. But I think it was the biggest mistake of my training. I should have run at least 20 before the race.

Yeah I went back and looked and the longest in the Hanson plan is 16 miles, then the taper starts. Not sure I’d feel comfortable with that either.
Blue - Good to see you getting the mileage in. Were you hit by a car while exercising? Hate to hear that. I’ve got nothing as far as help with the hip pain to offer.

This is where I am with lifting while training for a race. I haven't been able to find a good way to do it. If you guys unlock the secret, let me know.

Anybody racing this weekend? I think Stringed has his Marathon maybe? Gulf Coast Marathon going on in Biloxi. Washout here in BR, gotta assume it’s headed that way. Desi is in town for it, sucks that the weather is shite. It should clear by tomorrow am for the Marathon, however.

No race here this weekend. Preparing for Sunday's snowpocalypse.

Had a bad week of waking up. Still am going to get 20 miles on the week.
Slick, wet, misty, and cold run this morning. 5 miles. Didn’t get light till about 7:30. Tripped on a stump and busted pretty hard.
Have another run with my group that couldn’t make it this morning in the afternoon.

Is that Brazos race near you this weekend?

Burt has a 13 mile trail race today, curious to see his thoughts on that

Nasty weekend here. We have a half that runs right by my house and I’ll be out sitting in my yard heckling runners and a few of my friends when they run by tomorrow morning.
I completely forgot about this race or I would have signed up for it.
I’ve fallen out of the local running scene so far in the last 5 years.
