I tend to sorta follow the Yasso rules for 800's. If you run, or it is your goal to run a marathon in say 3:30:00, run your 800's at a 3:30. This normally comes out between your 5K and 10K pace. If i'm pressed for time, I knock 10 or so seconds off of each and do one or two less. I do NOT follow the Yasso rule for recovery, which in my example, would also be 3:30. That seems way too long. I stick with 1:30 to 2:00.

It's been my experience that running at 90%, which I have been guilty of, tends to lead to fatigue and loss of mileage on your tempo and long runs.

Ran 6 on Sunday and 5 today, about 8:45-9:00 pace. Today was brisk and windy on the lakefront. I ran close to the seawall as the waves crashed over. I never got full on drenched but I did get a few smacks of chilly lake water in the face.

My better than expected Turkey Day 5 miler has me wondering if I am in shape to run a 7 min mile 5k, so I signed up for one Dec 15th. We'll see.

Did some trail sprints tonight. Set a couple of PRs on segments. Wore my ghosts instead of trail shoes.

Definitely faster but felt a little looser goosey on some of the more technical parts. Didn’t like it much.

I just joined the Strava group... Gonna drag the average pace times down a bit. Lol.

Lol. The stupid app said, "push the record button." And I was like, "No, I'm in bed." But it made me push it, thus logging the epic night run. I just deleted it lol.

Hoping I can get some easy runs in starting tomorrow. Looks like IT band issues. I've had it in the past, but never felt like this. I was limping all day Monday. Felt better on Tuesday, but still went to the PT/Chiro. Sucks as I was really hitting my stride. Never have I been this fast (I hesitate to say fast, but can't think of another way to describe ), nor has running for ~3 hours at an easy pace been so easy. At least it's likely not a meniscus tear.

Was going to join the Strava group but had some trouble linking it to my watch. What's the name of the group again?

5 miles this morning on the levee. Nice and cold in low 40s. Felt good and ran 8:27 pace despite last two miles into the wind. If I do a normal run Friday and a longer run Saturday, I will have more mileage this week than I have in over a year.

I thought this chart was pretty cool, pertaining to treadmill speed/incline and how it correlates to actual pace.

Got in 7 on the treadmill today.

Normally not a fan but today was entertaining. At about mile 3 an attractive blonde got on the treadmill next to me, and we both proceeded to bump up our speeds every 0.5-1 miles. I ended up doing mile 7 at sub 6:00 and she was running about 6:45 pace

She finished up during my cool down and thanked me for the push

I see what you did there. Any of you guys, especially the ones weighing 160 lbs or less, use Whey Protean post run? If so, noticed any change in recovery or body mass? I', most interested in taking it so I don't drop too much weight and wither away.

I may not be the best to answer as I’m actually not afraid of, and steering toward, dropping some upperbody muscle (never thought I’d say that). I feel like I’m a little more top heavy than I should be for a runner. That said, I’m only doing bodyweight/resistance band/agility work now for upper body.

To answer your question (finally), I always keep whey on hand and try to get some post run, depending on how my meals are lining up. In your situation, I’d definitely recommend it, to help you hold on to what you have.

Do you do any other type of training other than specifically running?

That's pretty cool. Some point real soon I'm going to plateau and I'll have to get a coach. I'm kind of looking forward to it.
