Yeah. It looks like that last mile did him in.

I mean he still ran damn close to a 6:00 mile but that’s what stopped it from being sub 18.

Obviously NOT knocking him. Great job!

Congrats Burt - a damn fine time

I’m in Branson, MO for the weekend. Started out on my 10 miler this am. Was supposed to do 5 easy, 2 @ 7:25, and 3 easy. It was cold, windy, and wet, and the route I was running was hills on top of hills. I said frick it after 5 miles and did the rest on the warm treadmill

I’ll post this here, hope it gets some attention.

I posted a few weeks ago my running schedule. Well, two weeks ago I ran a slow and easy 6.5 miles, stretched real well, and went home. Bent over to pick my gym bag up and knee gave way. Tore my meniscus for the second time in that knee. Waiting to get MRI back for full extent.

Here’s my reason for posting. I’ve been biking ever since to get some cardio and a decent warm up for lifting. I am currently doing 5 miles of biking before and 5 miles after my workouts. At a 3 min/mile pace. The calorie counter says it’s pretty low.

How does this compare to a easy 7 min mile 1.5 before and after?

Sorry if this is muddy, I’m drinking tonight

It’s a little blurred I’d say, haha. What are you asking? If biking 5 at a 3 min mile will warm you up the same as running 1.5 7 minute miles? If so, I’d py attention to HR probably and see if it gets up to the same zone as it did when you were running.

Bingo.
Problem? The HR reader does not work on the bike I use. I can and will swap to another to get a reading though. I am just down a bit. I am a reformed fat guy that finally got where I wanted to be, and had the same issue for the third time (second time this knee).

Yeah man, injuries suck, especially considering what you’ve achieved. Don’t get down though, just keep that chin up and keep getting after it. Anything is better than nothing! Is it OK to cycle and weight train with a torn meniscus?

Waiting the results of the MRI now. This knee has been repaired before so, its not looking great. However, pain level is very low while biking and no swelling nor water on the knee. Weight training is all upper body since injury. Hoping rehab is possible given great results biking lately.

I didnt want to gloss over this. I appreciate it. I was able to bike 10m today, 10m, yesterday, 12m the day before. I am going to keep at it, but 3 times is a kick in the nuts.

Thanks again.

13ish on the trails this morning. 150HR which surprised me considering how much shite I was climbing and dodging.

First real test of the Sense Rides. So far they are blister machines but otherwise a great trail shoe.

If you get a chance to do the Bellavista back 40, do it! Same for the Hobbs tail twister in Rogers. Stay warm and healthy out there boys!

7 miles for me today in a light drizzle/mist, which brings me to a total of 20 miles for the week. Now it's shower, make some groceries, and start cooking up a pot of gumbo.

Whew damn, feel like I left a little bit on the table but had a decent showing at the Tiger 10K, 3rd in my division out of 109. Pretty sure the overall includes the 5K also. 45:50 according to Strava. It was a regular family affair. My Mom, Dad, Wife all came out and it was my son’s first effort.

Plan I built for myself called for easy 16 mile long run this week, but I've been feeling good, so tried to push that to 18. At 16.4 had some knee pain and shut it down just in case. Cardio and leg muscle endurance is there. Need to get these joints and tendons shaped up.
